Frank and Kristin stepped away from the shop to spend some time with students at Anderson-Shiro’s College & Career Fair, sharing a little insight into the world of taxidermy!

From the craftsmanship behind each mount to turning a passion for the outdoors into a career, they enjoyed showing students what goes into the work we do every day.

There’s something pretty special about sharing your trade with the next generation, especially right here in Grimes County, where hunting and the outdoors are a way of life for so many.

🦌 ONE WRONG CUT CAN COST YOU YOUR TROPHY.

You waited all season for that buck. Don’t let a mistake in the field ruin your chance to put him on the wall.

If you’re planning on a shoulder mount, how you cape your deer matters.

A few things to remember:

🔸 Leave plenty of hide for your taxidermist to work with.

🔸 Follow the proper cutting lines shown in the diagram.

🔸 Keep your cape clean and cool.

🔸 When in doubt, stop cutting and give us a call. We’d rather walk you through it than have you risk damaging your cape.

A little extra care in the field can make a BIG difference in the finished mount.
