Friends & supporters, we want to take a moment to clearly outline some non-negotiable policies here at UNITED WINGS AVIARY.
Our aviary is not a storefront.
This is a private family home and a permanent sanctuary for the birds in our care. Their safety, health, and emotional well-being always come first.
To protect them — and our family — these rules are firm and will not be bent.
🚫 NO WALK-INS. EVER.
No one is allowed in without:
✔️ A completed application
✔️ Approval
✔️ A scheduled appointment
✔️ A visit for a specific bird only
If you have not applied and been approved, you will not be invited in. Period.
🦜 AVIARY & BIRD BOUNDARIES
Many of our birds are rescues recovering from trauma. They are not here for entertainment.
❌ No touching cages
❌ No putting fingers or objects through bars
❌ No provoking or tapping
❌ No handling birds unless explicitly instructed
Access to the aviary is limited to scheduled meet-and-greets or approved volunteer times only.
🏠 THIS IS OUR HOME
Please knock and wait to be let in — even if you have an appointment.
Entering uninvited is not acceptable.
Our personal companion birds are family members and are NOT for sale.
🌸🚫 ABSOLUTELY NO PERFUME OR SCENTED PRODUCTS
This includes:
• Perfume / cologne
• Body spray
• Strong lotions
• Scented hair products
Strong scents are dangerous for birds. If you arrive wearing fragrance, the visit will not proceed.
📅 SCHEDULED VISITS ONLY
This applies to:
• Adoption meetings
• Volunteer time
• Surrender appointments
No exceptions.
We truly appreciate those who respect these boundaries. Your understanding allows us to continue this work safely and responsibly.
They are not up for debate and will not change.
