🐾 **Help Holt House Hippos Take Our Next Big Step!** 🐾
We’ve officially formed **Holt House Hippos as a Texas nonprofit corporation** and now we’re ready for the next step: applying to the IRS for formal **501(c)(3) recognition**.
Our Form 1023-EZ application has a **$275 filing fee**, and we’re asking our community to help us raise that amount separately so the limited funds we have can stay focused on the animals who need us.
For a small rescue, $275 can mean veterinary visits, vaccines, spay/neuter procedures, microchips, food, medications, and other necessities. Before one of our animals goes to a permanent home, we want to make sure they receive the medical care and preparation they deserve—and adoption fees often don’t come close to covering those costs.
So we have one simple goal:

If 28 people donate $10, we’re there.
If 55 people donate $5, we’re there.
Every contribution gets us one step closer.
Once approved, formal 501(c)(3) recognition will help us build a stronger foundation for Holt House Hippos, pursue grants and public support, and continue growing our ability to help animals in need.
