Thank you so much to all who have shown support for our tripod girly, Autumn 🍂🍁

Autumn has been starting to open up in her foster homes. She is understandably so confused. We can tell she’s used to being in a home. She’s very comfortable snuggling on the couch and absolutely loves other dogs. She’s a perfect lazy gal and we’re so proud of how far she’s come in less than a week.

Autumn is 4YO, HW- and spayed! She’s fighting off a UTI and will be available for adoption once she’s all clear 💙💚

When Caro’s Canines was first being talked about and formed, we knew we wanted to focus not only on saving dogs but also on the people who love them. 5 years ago, Houston’s municipal shelter took in 17,914 animals. Last year, they took in 22,445. That’s a 25% increase. In 2025, 35% of those animals weren’t strays…they were surrendered by their owners.

But most of those surrenders didn’t need to happen. And that’s the problem we are working to help solve. We’ve been building the Safe Haven program slowly and steadily to help dogs stay in their homes with their people, before they ever have to reach the shelter. Often, dog owners aren't careless. They're facing difficult times like a medical crisis, addiction treatment, eviction, or domestic violence, and are making the heart wrenching decision to part with an animal they love. Our program works to safely house their dogs in loving foster homes until they can be reunited.

We have welcomed our very first Safe Haven dog, Sadie. She’s an 8 yo sweet girl whose dad is going to be undergoing a Stem Cell Transplant over the next several months. While her family is relocating for medical care and focusing on the crisis at hand, Sadie is happy, safe, and loved in a foster home. And we can’t wait for the day she can be reunited with her amazing family!

Honey is the sweetest 1.5 yr old terrier mix looking for her forever home! Shes so sweet and loving with everyone she meets.

Honey is dog/cat friendly, loves squeaky toys, and is happiest close to her person. She’s spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccines.

Meet Kirby!💙💚

When we asked Maddie & The Senior Dog Squad 🐾 to find us a friendly, little cutie, she delivered 👏 Kirby is a 4 year old mini schnauzer mix. He came to the shelter as a stray. Not sure what his backstory is, but we loved him! His amazing foster got him a groom (pics coming soon👀), he’s already loving playing with his foster brother and he has a vet appt today! He will need to be neutered, then will be available for adoption 💚
