Urgent Shelter Pets Houston, Houston, TX (2026)

10/02/2026

💋 LOOK AT DRACO’S FACE. If ever a dog was designed for smooches, THIS IS HIM. DRACO is only 1½ years old and just 49 pounds — a perfect medium-sized boy who is already full grown, so what you see is what you get!

💛 And what you get is an absolutely adorable brindle boy with the squishiest cheeks, sweetest smile and one seriously smoochable face. And DRACO has more going for him than being ridiculously cute.

🐾 Outside in the play yard he showed his best side: soft eyes, a relaxed happy mouth and a wagging tail. He was excited to get outside and spent plenty of time sniffing and exploring, but when his person sat down, DRACO came over and sat with them.
He’s pretty good on leash too! 💕 DRACO cares more about being with his person than playing with toys — he might never have had a toy before. You can show him how to play!

But DRACO has been waiting since 9/9 and is now LONG STAY and URGENT. 💔 Cute faces and wagging tails don’t protect dogs when the shelter needs space. DRACO can lose his life any Mon, Wed or Fri morning simply because he’s still here.

🚨 This sweet, smoochy little guy needs someone to make a plan for him NOW.

📍 LOCAL? If the shelter is OPEN, go meet DRACO and place a HOLD. If it’s CLOSED, EMAIL NOW — do not wait for the shelter to reopen.

🌎 NOT LOCAL? YOU CAN STILL SAVE HIM. Out-of-state adoption is possible through rescue — EMAIL NOW and tell the shelter where you live.

🏡 CAN YOU FOSTER? EMAIL NOW and offer to foster DRACO through the shelter or for a rescue.

Send ONE email to ALL THREE addresses at the same time with DRACO A655725, your name, PHONE NUMBER, location and whether you can foster or adopt:

🥺 JUNIPER is scared in the shelter, but she’s a GOOD girl who is already showing us how quickly she can trust. She’s DOG FRIENDLY too — but heartbreakingly, her kennelmate was killed for space YESTERDAY. 💔 Now JUNIPER is sitting in that kennel alone, and we are terrified she could be next.

Give JUNIPER a little patience and some treats and she starts coming around. 💕 She will approach for treats, take them nicely and will allow pets. The more gentle affection she received, the more she relaxed.

And on a leash? JUNIPER knows exactly what to do. 🐾 She walks so nicely, the only thing that stopped her was all the barking, this poor girl freezes in the chaos.

JUNIPER is only 2 years old, 49 pounds, heartworm NEGATIVE and food motivated. 💛 She needs a quiet place to decompress and someone willing to show her that she’s safe.

🚨 Her kennelmate didn’t make it out yesterday. We NEED someone to email the shelter TONIGHT for her to be safe tomorrow morning when euthanasia happens

📍 LOCAL? If the shelter is OPEN, go meet JUNIPER and place a HOLD. If it’s CLOSED, EMAIL NOW — do not wait for the shelter to reopen.

🖤 RUBY is having a hard time with shelter life, and even mealtime tells us how uncomfortable she is here. This beautiful 4-year-old girl won’t eat while someone is standing nearby — she waits until she has a little privacy.

We don’t know much about who RUBY is outside these walls yet. What we DO know is that she’s DOG FRIENDLY, heartworm NEGATIVE and a gorgeous black pittie who deserves the chance to decompress somewhere she can finally feel safe. 💕

That feels much more sympathetic to her while still using the one little individual detail you have.

RUBY had a kennelmate, but that lucky dog was ADOPTED. 💕 We’re thrilled one dog got out — but now RUBY is alone, taking up an entire kennel, and that puts this long-stay girl in an especially dangerous position.

🚨 RUBY has been waiting since 9/8 and can disappear as soon as TOMORROW, Friday 10/2 morning. She’s a black pittie in a crowded shelter, and we do NOT want her story to end before anyone ever gets to know who RUBY is outside these walls.
She needs someone to notice her TONIGHT. 💔 Please help this pretty girl be seen.

A foster or adopter can help RUBY leave safely. If you can help her, please send an 📧 e-mail NOW stating you want to foster or adopt RUBY A661544 with your name and phone # to:

👀 ONE BLUE EYE, ONE GOLDEN EYE and that incredible brindle coat — RYLIE is seriously STUNNING. But this beautiful young girl has been waiting since 9/9 and is already VERY URGENT. 🚨

Dogs here 15+ days can be euthanized any Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning WITH NO WARNING, and being young, friendly and gorgeous does NOT keep a dog safe here.

💕 RYLIE has so much going for her! She is friendly with PEOPLE and other DOGS and currently shares her kennel with SARA BETH. At just 1 year old, she’s barely out of puppyhood — but at 51 pounds, she’s essentially full grown and won’t be getting any bigger.

💙 And seriously, those EYES. One icy blue, one warm golden brown, surrounded by the prettiest brindle markings.
🥺 RYLIE should be starting her life right now — not sitting in a kennel hoping she gets another day. She has so much life ahead of her. We need someone to make sure she gets to LIVE IT.

🏡 LOCAL? If the shelter is OPEN, go meet RYLIE and place a HOLD. If it’s CLOSED, EMAIL NOW — do not wait for the shelter to reopen.

📧 NOT LOCAL? YOU CAN STILL SAVE HER. Out-of-state adoption is possible through rescue — EMAIL NOW and tell the shelter where you live.

🚨 THEY ARE KILLING SHEPHERDS — AND CLANCY IS ALREADY IN THE DANGER ZONE. This beautiful 2-year-old boy has been waiting since 9/8, and after watching German Shepherds repeatedly lose their lives here, we are VERY worried about him.

🥺 CLANCY is scared. But when the treats came out — little by little, that tail started to WAG. CLANCY came forward, leaned his head right into a hand asking for pets and let himself be loved all over. He was still shaking while he sought comfort. 💔

💕 This isn't a dog who doesn't want people. This is a frightened young dog looking to people for reassurance. The leash scares him right now and he needs someone willing to patiently teach him that walks can mean GOOD things. At only 2 years old, he has so much time to learn.

🚨 But CLANCY may not GET that time. Dogs here 15+ days can be euthanized every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning WITH NO WARNING — and shepherds have been particularly vulnerable. CLANCY has already been here more than THREE WEEKS. We need someone to see this sweet, scared boy before his name appears on a list we never wanted to see.

🏡 LOCAL? If the shelter is OPEN, go meet CLANCY and place a HOLD. If it’s CLOSED, EMAIL NOW — do not wait for the shelter to reopen.

🥺 MARGO IS ONLY 8 MONTHS OLD — and look at that shy little face. This bashful baby isn't the puppy bouncing at the kennel door demanding attention. She's the one sitting back, watching and waiting for someone to make her feel safe.

💕 But you can see it in her. Get down on her level, give her a little encouragement and MARGO looks like she'd absolutely MELT into your lap. She's only 24 pounds, and while she may put on a few more as she finishes growing, this little girl is going to stay LITTLE. She should be learning about couches, toys, walks and all the good things that come with having a family.

💔 Instead, MARGO has been growing up on concrete since 9/9. Her kennelmate left safely with rescue on 9/24, and she's now spent an entire WEEK alone. Being alone and overlooked is a dangerous place to be in this shelter.

🚨 And please don't assume MARGO is safe because she's a puppy. Dogs her age ARE euthanized here. MARGO has been waiting more than 3 weeks and can now be euthanized any Monday, Wednesday or Friday morning WITH NO WARNING. We are worried about her.

🐾 Puppies shouldn't grow up in a pound. They shouldn't have to wonder where their friend went. And they certainly shouldn't be at risk of losing their lives because nobody found them in time. MARGO needs someone to find HER now.

🏡 LOCAL? If the shelter is OPEN, go meet MARGO and place a HOLD. If it’s CLOSED, EMAIL NOW — do not wait for the shelter to reopen.

📧 NOT LOCAL? YOU CAN STILL SAVE HER. Out-of-state adoption is possible through rescue — EMAIL NOW and tell the shelter where you live.

𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐄𝐑 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐆 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐘 𝐌𝐎𝐌 — 𝐔𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐓! 🚨 TALLULAH SPENT WEEKS PROTECTING HER BABIES. NOW MOMMA NEEDS SOMEONE TO PROTECT HER. 💔

🥺 4 year old TALLULAH arrived on 8/12 with a litter of puppies and took being their mom VERY seriously. With her babies beside her, she was nervous, watchful and protective. Away from them, we saw a completely different TALLULAH.

💕 Now her babies are weaned and TALLULAH is finally getting to be more than MOM. She’s much calmer, can be leashed, happily accepts pets and takes treats gently. TALLULAH can finally relax now that her babies are safe — but WE CAN’T. We know what can happen to a dog who has been waiting this long.

🥹 And those EYELASHES?! TALLULAH has ridiculously LONG lashes framing those beautiful brown eyes. Some of us would pay good money for those. 😂

💗 One note before you watch: TALLULAH is a GIRL! Our volunteer accidentally calls her a boy a couple of times. 😂

🚨 TALLULAH has been here since 8/12. Dogs here 15+ days can be euthanized every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning WITH NO WARNING. Her babies are safe. Now MOMMA needs to get out safely too.
