It’s with a lot of love that we officially announce the inaugural COATS ROCKS TO FAME MEMORIAL RACE. 🤍

📅 September 26, 2026
📍 Double Nickel Ranch

This date was originally planned to be our 2nd Charlie Kirk Race, but as we’re coming up on a year since losing our incredible stallion, Coats Rocks To Fame, lovingly known as “Jack,” we decided there was no more fitting way for us to use this day than to honor a horse who meant so much to our family, our barn, and so many people who knew him.

Jack was an extremely special horse. He had a heart the size of Texas and the grit and tenacity of 1,000 war heroes put together. He was a winner through and through, but what made Jack so special had very little to do with what he accomplished in the arena.

He was the heart of our barn.

Anyone who spent much time around Double Nickel knew exactly where to find him. Jack always had his feed gate pushed open with his head hanging out into the aisle. Everyone who came in the barn would run down to see him, wrap their arms around his big head and give him a bear hug, and Jack soaked up every second of it. 🤍

Those are the kind of things we miss the most.

So, on September 26th, we’re going to do what we know how to do, and that’s run some barrels, give away some money, and celebrate one heck of a horse.

🏆 $1,000 ADDED HIGH STAKES

🤍 SILENT AUCTION

We’re planning some awesome items to donate to the silent auction ourselves, and we would LOVE to have our friends, businesses, and community involved too! If you’re interested in donating an item, service, gift certificate, experience, or anything else, please get in touch with us. We would love to have your involvement.

All funds raised through the silent auction will go toward scholarship opportunities in Jack’s name. We have some really exciting things in the works and will share all of the details on eligibility and how to apply as soon as we can!

We hope this becomes something we get to do for years to come and a way for Jack’s name and legacy to continue giving back.

We hope you’ll come run, celebrate Jack with us, and maybe use the day as a little reminder to never take a single minute with the ones you love for granted.

We sure wish we could have a few more with him. 🤍

September 26th. We’ll see y’all at the Ranch.

In loving memory of
COATS ROCKS TO FAME

Scholarship Applications are NOW OPEN! ❤️

Applications for the Coats Rocks To Fame Memorial Scholarships are officially open on our website!

www.DoubleNickelRanch.com → Events → Coats Rocks To Fame Memorial Scholarships

In Jack’s honor, we will be awarding scholarships in four different categories:

Veterinary Medicine
Equine Reproduction
Trades & Technical
Collegiate Rodeo

We chose these four areas intentionally because we believe every one of them plays an important role in our industry, our western way of life, and in Jack’s story.

Our vet was our first call the morning we lost Jack. Veterinarians deserve so much recognition and support, and we know Jack would not have been the horse he was without the incredible team of vets who cared for him throughout his life. We want to help support someone who hopes to do that same thing for horses and their people one day.

As breeders ourselves, equine reproduction is something especially close to us. There is an incredible amount of knowledge, time, work, and care that goes into producing the next generation. Our industry needs young people who want to pursue reproduction and help preserve the genetics of horses like Jack for generations to come.

We also wanted to recognize trades and technical careers. Whether that’s farrier school, equine dentistry, welding, mechanics, or another skilled trade, these are the people our industry and western lifestyle simply could not function without. These careers deserve to be supported, encouraged, and invested in.

And finally, collegiate rodeo. These young cowboys and cowgirls are part of the future of our equine industry. They will be the trainers, breeders, competitors, horsemen and women, and leaders responsible for the next generation of great horses.

The scholarships will be funded in part through the Silent Auction at the Coats Rocks To Fame Memorial Race on September 26th. We have already had some incredible items and services donated, and we are SO appreciative of everyone who has stepped up to support this. Every donation and every bid helps us pour back into these scholarships.

Please share this post and tag someone who needs to apply! Whether you know a future veterinarian, repro specialist, tradesman or tradeswoman, or collegiate rodeo athlete, we want this application in front of them.

We appreciate everyone who has supported us in helping turn the devastating loss of a horse who truly was family to us into something incredible for the future of an industry Jack left such a lasting mark on. ❤️

We can’t bring Jack back, but we can make sure his impact doesn’t end with us.🥹🙏🏼
