Hi everyone,

I wanted to share a quick personal update and ask for a little grace over the coming weeks.

Earlier this week, our family experienced a medical emergency involving our 6-year-old daughter. She’s now home recovering after emergency surgery, and we’re waiting on additional answers from her medical team while preparing for what comes next.

Because of that, my focus right now is entirely on my family. You may notice slower responses to messages, emails, applications, and general cattery communications than you’re used to. I promise I’ll get back to everyone as I’m able.

At this time, any non-essential cattery plans are on hold while we focus on our daughter’s health. The cats and kittens are all doing well and receiving the same care and attention as always, but my availability is understandably much more limited.

Thank you all for your patience, kindness, and understanding during this season. It means more than you know. ❤️

Happy 1st Birthday to our Bridgerton litter! 🥳🥳🥳 I cannot believe Duchess x Prince’s babies are already ONE. This litter was such a special one for Velvet Paws, and seeing them all grown up in their homes has been the sweetest full-circle moment.

A huge thank you to their amazing families for loving them so well and for sending all of these beautiful updates. Watching our kittens grow from tiny little fluffballs into stunning, spoiled, confident Maine C**ns is truly one of the best parts of breeding.

Happy birthday to Anthony (now Howl), Benedict (now Killian), Colin (now Zorro), Daphne and Gregory (now Nimbus). 😘

Seeing them so loved one year later is everything I could have hoped for when they left our cattery. 🥹❤️

I have to laugh at this one. 😂 I originally planned an "Evermore" litter theme and had names picked out for every possible combination of boys and girls...Then Damsel reminded me who she is. 😅 The theme officially became "Evermore (Than One)" because, once again, we found ourselves evermore hoping for more than one... and once again, Damsel gave us one perfect little kitten.

Meet "Champ" (Champagne Problems🥂) - Black Smoke Male

Damsel had a smooth, uncomplicated delivery, but singleton litters can sometimes come with their own unique challenges. With just one kitten, she needed a little extra support, so today we introduced Champ to Athena and her two babies.

Athena accepted him immediately, and within minutes he was nursing right alongside Prince Ben and Mal like he'd always been there. Damsel will still get plenty of time with her little boy, but we're incredibly grateful to have such an amazing foster mom helping give Champ the very best start. Sometimes it really does take a village - Even for cats! 😁

It's finally time to officially introduce Athena's babies! 🥹❤️ And by "finally"... I mean I finally had enough time to sit down, take pictures, and write this post. 😅

Our Descendants litter is already 9 days old, and these two have been quietly growing while the nursery has been extra busy. They're both doing wonderfully, gaining weight every day, and keeping Athena very busy.

Meet our little duo: Prince Ben - Black Smoke Male, and Mal - Black (Possible Silver) Classic Tabby Female.

Mal was the first to decide she was ready to see the world and has officially opened her eyes. Prince Ben is still taking his time... but we don't think it'll be much longer since he's already peepin'. 😂

Athena has been such a wonderful first-time mom, but one of our favorite memories actually happened just before these two were even born.

As contractions got stronger, Athena apparently decided Pearl was her labor coach. She kept wandering over to Pearl's nursery, stealing one of Pearl's three-week-old kittens, or curling up next to Pearl like she was asking, "Can you help me with this?" Pearl, being the patient queen she is, just tolerated the whole thing and let Athena lean on her. Mind you, Athena was only delivering two kittens while Pearl had just raised a litter of seven (one born sleeping). We couldn't stop laughing.

As it turns out, that nurturing personality wasn't just pregnancy hormones. ❤️ Today, Damsel's four-day-old singleton needed a little extra support, so we introduced him to Athena. She accepted him immediately, and within minutes he was nursing right alongside Prince Ben and Mal like he'd always been there.

Needless to say... we're proud of this girl and her new babies! 🥹
