MEET THIS BIG, BEAUTIFUL GIRL!

This gorgeous female Saint Bernard is here to work through some behavioral challenges that we want to address before they become more serious.

The biggest concern right now is her aggression toward the newer puppy in the household, who is around seven to eight months old. However, as I'm getting to know this big girl, I'm seeing that there's more going on beneath the surface. She appears to be struggling with fear, which is contributing to her reactivity toward the other dog in the home and, as I've also observed, toward unfamiliar people.

When we're dealing with behavioral issues like these, it's important to look beyond the behavior itself and start understanding what's driving it. Fear, stress, insecurity, and difficulty coping with certain situations can all play a role in how a dog responds to the world around them.

Our goal is to address these issues now, before they escalate into a bite or someone gets hurt. We'll be working on building confidence, improving emotional regulation, teaching healthier responses to triggers, and helping her learn that she doesn't have to react aggressively when she feels uncomfortable or threatened.

With a dog this big and powerful, responsible management and a thoughtful training plan are especially important. We'll take things one step at a time, work at a pace she can handle, and focus on building the foundation she needs to make better choices.

It's not just about stopping unwanted behavior. It's about understanding the dog behind the behavior and giving her the tools to succeed.
Stay tuned as we work with this beautiful girl and help her build a safer, more confident future!

Need help with your dog's behavior? Whether you're dealing with fear, anxiety, aggression, reactivity, or other unwanted behaviors, I'm here to help!

At Bark to Brilliance K9 Behavioral Training , we work together to build a calmer, more confident, well-balanced dog. Don't wait until things get worse!

Inside work with Tuve went pretty well! I really can't complain!

The little guy took a little time to get comfortable holding his place inside a home environment. Tuve doesn't really have any aggression issues at home.

His biggest challenge is that he's an overly friendly, excitable guy who wants to be involved in everything! He loves people, wants to be part of the action, and would happily jump all over everyone if given the opportunity.

So, learning to settle on place and remain there, even when things are happening around him, can be a little stressful for him. Especially when that means he can't join us on the couch or get involved in all the fun!

But that's exactly why we do this work.

It's about teaching dogs how to regulate themselves, practice impulse control, and learn that they don't always have to be in the middle of everything to be okay.

Overall, Tuve did well! He eventually settled down, relaxed, and even caught himself some Zs! And honestly, seeing him get comfortable enough to switch off and rest is something I'm always happy to see.
It's not just about teaching a dog what NOT to do. It's about teaching them how to be calm, confident, and comfortable doing NOTHING at all.

LOOK AT THIS BOY GO! MR. TUVE IS COMING TO LIFE!

Today was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love what I do!

When Tuve first arrived, the world was a pretty overwhelming place for this little guy. Fear and uncertainty made it difficult for him to relax, trust, and truly enjoy what was happening around him. He had so much potential, but he needed a little help finding his confidence and learning how to navigate the world around him.

BUT LOOK AT HIM NOW!

Today, Tuve came out full of life! He was more aware of his surroundings, taking things in, processing his environment, and actually ENJOYING himself! Instead of simply reacting to everything around him, he was learning to slow down, think, and work through what he was experiencing. And let me tell you, seeing that kind of progress is absolutely amazing!

He enjoyed his work today, and you could really see that his confidence is growing. He's learning that the world isn't something he always has to be afraid of, and that he can navigate it with a little more calmness, trust, and confidence.

This is what it's all about! It's not just about obedience or teaching a dog commands. It's about helping them feel better, think clearer, build confidence, and learn how to handle life without fear running the show.

Tuve has worked hard, and I'm incredibly proud of the progress he's made. He's not just learning skills; he's learning how to LIVE a little more freely!

And guess what?! MR. TUVE IS ALMOST READY TO GO HOME!

We've still got a little work to do, but this boy is getting closer and closer to being ready to take what he's learned back home with him. I can't wait to see him continue growing and becoming the confident little guy I knew was in there all along!

Way to go, Tuve! Keep that tail wagging, buddy! Your future is looking brighter every day!

Does your dog struggle with fear, anxiety, reactivity, or other unwanted behaviors? There's hope, and you don't have to navigate it alone!

Call or message me today to see how I can help!

LOOK WHO CAME OUT TO PLAY! MR. TUVE!

When this little guy first arrived, he was nervous around my dogs and, well… pretty much EVERYTHING!

This little man has a lot of fear to work through, but we've been taking things one step at a time.

Little by little, he's starting to loosen up, trust me more, and build the confidence he needs to navigate the world around him. He's been making some great progress, and today was a BIG step in the right direction!

Today, Tuve finally came out of his shell, relaxed, and actually ENJOYED himself with all of my dogs! Seeing him let his guard down and just be a dog is what it's all about! These are the moments we work so hard for, and I couldn't be happier with the progress this little guy is making.

What a GREAT day and an even better way to kick off the weekend!

I hope you all get out there, put in some work with your dogs, make some great memories, have fun, and most importantly, have a SAFE and wonderful weekend!

Earl Grey is back for a little refresher!

Earl is here for just one week to brush up on his skills, manners, and overall behavior. He has been through my board-and-train program before, quite a while ago, and since then he has been an absolute rockstar at home.

When Earl first came to me, his biggest issue was bullying the foster dogs that were being housed or passing through his home. Thankfully, he doesn't do that anymore!

What has crept back up, though, is some of his anxiety.

And honestly… it happens. Dogs go home, life gets busy, and once the big problem behaviors aren't happening anymore, training can naturally start to fall by the wayside. I'm not judging anyone for that — heck, my own personal dogs need refresher training sometimes! Between work, family, life, and everything else, finding the time and energy to consistently train your own dogs can be exhausting.

That's why refresher training can be so valuable. Sometimes a dog doesn't need a complete overhaul — they just need a little tune-up.

At first, refresher work can look a lot like what you're seeing in this video: slow movements, calm energy, and simple expectations. I'm not trying to overwhelm Earl or force him through anything. I'm simply getting him to slow down, think, pay attention to me, and look to me for direction instead of getting lost in his anxiety.

You'll also see me reaching in to pet and reward Earl. At first, he wasn't a fan of that and made his feelings pretty clear. So instead of pushing the interaction, I simply desensitized him to my hands until he stopped being so focused on them. Once he was comfortable, I was able to give him a quick, calm reward with some affection.

He did GREAT for his first day!

Keep it up, my guy. We've got a week to get you feeling like yourself again!

It’s been a busy life for lil’ ol’ Mr. Tuve! He’s been working incredibly hard on overcoming his fears and learning how to feel more comfortable and confident in the world around him.

Tuve wants to be social—he just hasn’t quite had the confidence to fully embrace it yet. And that’s okay! Building confidence takes time, patience, consistency, and a whole lot of positive experiences. All we can do is keep on keeping on!

One of the biggest things I’ve been seeing lately is a HUGE improvement in his handler relevance. He’s starting to look to me for guidance, direction, and reassurance instead of immediately reacting to everything around him. To me, that’s a big sign that I’m earning his trust—and trust is the foundation everything else is built on.

This is usually the point where dogs start making some of their biggest strides. Once they begin trusting their handler and feeling more secure, they can start processing their environment instead of simply reacting to it. That’s when we can really start building confidence, communication, and better coping skills.

Keep up the good work, Tuve! You’re on the right path now, buddy!

BEAR HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!

Bear’s go-home lesson went really great, and I couldn’t be happier with the progress this boy has made! Not only was he such a good boy, but he was SO much calmer—and that’s something worth celebrating!

When Bear first came to me, he was extremely reactive toward people and even had some difficulties when it came to interacting with other dogs. His anxiety and lack of confidence made it difficult for him to process everything happening around him.
Fast-forward to today, and we’re seeing a completely different Bear!

He is now able to be around people he isn’t bonded to without showing the same level of reactivity we were seeing before training. He’s learning how to slow down, process his environment, make better choices, and trust the people guiding him.

There is still work to be done—training is a journey, not a quick fix—but seeing this kind of progress is exactly why I love what I do!

I can’t wait to see how Bear is doing when we follow up with him and his family in a couple of weeks. I’m excited to see how they continue building on everything we’ve worked on together!
Great job to everyone involved in Bear’s training!

And of course… good job, Bear!

Mr. Cutesie Wootsie, aka “Tuve,” is doing pretty darn good!

Tuve is learning not only to tolerate his surroundings, but to actually process and navigate everything happening around him. When he first started, the sight of tiny “prey-looking” dogs, squirrels, and even cats was enough to make him want to take off running!

The more we work on slowing that brain down, building impulse control, and teaching him how to calmly process his environment, the better he’s getting!

Loud noises and sudden movements can still make him jumpy, but every day we’re working on desensitizing him and helping him build confidence in the world around him.

He’s already making some great progress, and I expect him to continue improving as the days go by!

So keep an eye out for this cute little bu**er — there’s more to come!

Are you—or someone you know—struggling with your dog’s behavior?

It’s one of my favorite times of the year… SPOOKY SEASON!

Tuve is doing pretty good! I’ve been working with him on slowing that busy brain down and helping him become more engaged and connected with the world around him. With that comes more awareness, more trust, and—most importantly—a boost in confidence. He’s getting there little by little, and those small improvements are starting to add up!

Bear goes home this weekend! He has learned A LOT while he’s been here, and he has finally started opening up his nose to the outside world. That might sound like something small, but for a nervous dog like Bear, it’s a BIG step forward. We’ll be getting him out in public before he heads home to see how he handles everything he’s been working toward. He’s not perfect but I’m proud of the progress he’s made!
