If you are considering opening your heart and home to them (or any street rescue!), both two dogs are looking for new home.here is the essential medical roadmap they need to get a fresh start:
1. Immediate Scan for a Microchip: The very first step is a trip to the vet to check for a hidden microchip. It’s quick, free, and the fastest way to see if a worried family is looking for them.
2. A Full Physical Exam: Street life is tough. A vet needs to check them from nose to tail for injuries, dehydration, nutritional deficiencies, and dental issues.
3. Parasite Screening & Treatment: Fleas, ticks, and internal worms are incredibly common in strays. They will need immediate preventative care and a f***l test to clear out any unwanted infections
4. Essential Vaccines: To protect them (and other pets), they’ll need a baseline series of shots, including Rabies, DHPPL and Bordetella.
5. Heartworm Testing: This is critical. A simple blood test will check for heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes and highly prevalent in outdoor dogs. Catching it early makes all the difference.
6. Spay/Neuter Planning: Once they are stable and healthy, getting them fixed is the best way to ensure their long-term health and prevent future street litters.
