UPDATE: After Champawat’s “episode” in late July, seemingly with no real answers, I took her today for her FVRC booster at Cat Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Christensen asked about her progress and whether she had any reoccurrences. I told her “no” (believing that was correct) and added that I had seen two incidents of what I thought were PTSD-like triggers in the store. Then I explained that with both there was only one similarity: a sound like friction. Once a person dragging their shoes and another time someone with fabric that made a similar sound. That’s when she said it’s not PTSD but an auditory induced seizure. Simultaneously I asked her to check on what I thought seemed like an aural hematoma, but she checked and said it could be hemangioma. As she worked on her I mentioned that sometimes it looks smaller and sometimes bigger. These are barely noticeable differences on a spot less than 2 millimeters wide on the side of her ear, but to an acute observer you can see it. The doc then said it sounds more like a mast cell tumor. So today was just great. Let me tell you… So, we have a surgical procedure upcoming to remove what might be a tiny tumor and may need medication to help alleviate seizures. Lessons I want to share: as much as you know, and I know a lot compared to most, there’s still lots to learn. But keep records. Don’t ignore anything. And always tell your doctor. And trust your instincts! You know your pet better than anyone. Even your doctors, so SHARE what you know!
