Abby has been back to see us a few times since her amputation! She’s enjoying her life with her forever family! Since her amputation, she has gotten her staples out (unfortunately by her on doing) and caused it to open. She’s had to do quite a few bandage changes and antibiotics but she’s healing well now! We have also determined she has a torn tendon on her back leg. she’s walking flat footed due to this and she will have life long issues with it. Unfortunately the surgery is very expensive but her parents are determined. We would not being doing the surgery but can accept donations for them if anyone is wanting to help!

What is Heartworm Disease?
Heartworm disease is a serious illness spread by mosquitoes that affects a dog’s heart and lungs. It is very common in Texas because warm weather allows mosquitoes to survive most of the year.

Why Prevention Matters
Heartworm disease can be dangerous and expensive to treat, but it is easy to prevent. Veterinarians recommend giving heartworm prevention year-round to keep dogs protected.

Heartworm Testing
Dogs should have a yearly heartworm test, even if they are on prevention. Testing is done with a simple blood sample and helps detect infection early.

Common Signs
-Coughing
-Tiring easily
-Trouble breathing
-Weight loss

Good morning neighbors!
We had an AMAZING SAMARITAN bring in this poor severely matted dog. After almost 3 hours, we were able to shave down her paws to allow her to walk. Once we shaved her front right leg, we discovered that she had an open wound covered in maggots. Unfortunately, the paw can not be saved and she requires an amputation. The person who brought her in is willing to pay for the amputation needed but it is quite more than he was expecting. The amputation is currently occurring. We are asking if anyone is able to donate to his bill, it would be greatly appreciated! Please call us at 713-461-3111 if you’re able to contribute anything!
