How do I find out which shelter my town contracts with?

This allows our committee to review your application, and if approved, we will contact you to schedule an appointment to visit all of our adoptable cats and dogs. You can call your town office to find out which shelter your town contracts with. Currently, our shelter services the following towns: Amity, Dyer Brook, Glenwood, Hammond, Haynesville, Hersey, Houlton, Linneus, Littleton, Macwahoc, Monticello, Moro, New Limerick, Orient, Patten, Reed Plt, and Weston.

🐾 We know everyone loves a kitten...and trust us, we do too! ❤️

But we'd like to shine a spotlight on our amazing adult cats who are still waiting patiently for their fur-ever homes. These wonderful kitties often get overlooked while the younger ones steal the spotlight, yet they have so much love to give.

Adult pets come with many benefits: 🐾 Their personalities are already developed 🐾 Many are litter box-trained 🐾 They're often calmer and past the mischievous kitten stage 🐾 They are just as loving, loyal, and deserving of a family

Every day they watch other animals leave for their new homes while they continue to wait. Let's help change that. If you're considering adding a furry friend to your family, please don't overlook the adults. Your perfect companion may be waiting right here at the shelter.

6/9/26 🐾 UPDATE HELP NEEDED FOR THIS SWEET KITTY 🐾

We asked the person who found the cat to transport it to the vet because it seemed injured. After the evaluation it was found that one of her legs is badly broken and needs to be amputated tomorrow. She is currently in a great deal of pain, but she is receiving care and will have a chance at a happy life once she recovers.

The estimated cost of her surgery and treatment is between $900 and $1,300. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help us provide the care she desperately needs.

Donation Appreciation Post 🐾

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has donated to our shelter and animals. Your generosity means more than words can express. Every bag of food, bottle of cleaner, package of puppy pads, toy, blanket, and monetary donation helps us provide comfort, care, and a second chance to the animals who depend on us.

Because of your support, our dogs have full bellies, our cats have warm beds, and every animal that comes through our doors receives the love and care they deserve while waiting for their forever homes.

We are incredibly grateful for our compassionate community. Your kindness makes a difference every single day and reminds us that these animals have so many people cheering them on.

If this pup is yours, please call the Shelter 532-2862 to make arrangements to pick her up when administrative staff is there. Please bring proof of rabies and or license.

Please keep in mind the shelter has weekend hours and only our cleaning staff is on duty. We try to check messages periodically throughout the weekend.

🐾✨ ️Kittens, Kittens, and More Kittens! ✨️🐾

In just a couple of weeks, we will have a whole bunch of adorable kittens available for adoption! We already have a LONG WAIT LIST (18 to be exact) of families eager to welcome a new furry friend into their homes, but don't let that discourage you from applying.

With the number of kittens we have now, plus even more expected to be available throughout July, there's a good chance we'll be able to match many wonderful kittens with loving homes.

If you've been thinking about adding a playful, purring companion to your family, now is the perfect time to submit an adoption application. Getting your application in early helps us process everything and find the best possible homes for these little ones.

When we scanned for a microchip this cat has a chip. We know the name of the cat and the owner who registered the chip but the strange thing is it belongs to someone in Mississippi.

This is kinda confusing because it was brought in by someone living in Monticello.

Please reach out to us if this cat is yours and caught a ride to Maine or was stolen, it wants to go home‼️

Happy Adoption Day, Winston! 🐾❤️

Winston has gone to a wonderful home where he can run, play, and enjoy life with his new brother Miles. We couldn't be happier for this sweet boy as he begins the next chapter of his journey.

Thank you to his adopter for opening their hearts and giving him the loving home he deserves. We know he will be spoiled with love, adventures, and plenty of playtime.

Congratulations, Winston! We will miss you (though only here a shirt time) but seeing you find your forever family is exactly why we do what we do. Have an amazing life with your new brother and family! 🏡🐕💕
