Today is World Mental Health Day. Did you know that pets support mental health by lowering stress hormones, easing loneliness, and providing daily structure? American Psychiatric Association research shows that 86% of pet owners report that having animal companions positively impacts their mental health. You can help by supporting our pet photo calendar contest. Every donation (i.e., photo entry, vote, and/or calendar purchase) allows us to feed, treat, vaccinate, spay/neuter, and rehome strayed, surrendered, abandoned, and neglected animals. Every adoption gives us the chance to improve the lives of animals in our care and support the mental health of our community.

Not sure what to get that special someone for the holidays? Need a stocking stuffer? Love supporting shelter animals but aren't sure how to contribute? We have the solution - pre-order calendars from our pet photo calendar contest! Orders should be delivered to your door in mid-December, and every order is a donation that directly supports the animals in our care. To spread even more holiday cheer, submit a photo of your pet and/or vote for photos already submitted.

💔 A LITTLE REMINDER FROM YOUR HUMANE SOCIETY 💔

As many of you know, we are an appointment-only humane society. When someone takes the time to fill out an adoption application, goes through the process, and schedules an appointment to meet one of our dogs, we get excited. We start hoping that maybe, just maybe, this could be the day one of our babies finds their forever home. ❤️🐾

So when someone doesn't show up and doesn't call to let us know, it truly makes our hearts sink.
And especially for the dogs. 💔

They don't understand why someone who was supposed to come meet them never showed up. They don't know that an appointment was missed or plans changed. They just keep waiting, day after day, hoping that someone will choose them.

Our staff and volunteers put so much love, time, and effort into caring for these animals while they wait for their second chance. We understand that life happens, and sometimes plans change. All we ask is that you please give us a call if you can no longer make your appointment.
That simple phone call matters more than you may realize.

These dogs have already been through enough disappointment. They deserve people who show up for them, even if it's just to let us know that today isn't the day.

Please remember, behind every application is a hopeful heart, and behind every kennel door is a dog waiting for someone to give them a chance. 🐶❤️

Please don't leave them waiting without a word. They deserve that much. 🐾💔
