Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant
Fall River Veterinary Clinic – Hot Springs, SD
Fall River Veterinary Clinic is seeking a motivated, reliable Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our team. We are willing to train the right candidate, so previous veterinary experience is not required. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a genuine passion for animal care.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, rewarding environment where no two days are the same. While this career is incredibly fulfilling, it is also physically and emotionally demanding. We are looking for someone who is ready to embrace both the challenges and rewards of veterinary medicine.
Responsibilities:
-Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, surgeries and procedures
-Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
-Administer treatments and medications as directed
-Maintain accurate medical records
-Clean and maintain hospital, kennel, and treatment areas
-Communicate professionally with clients and coworkers
-Assist with laboratory work, radiology, and other diagnostic procedures
-Monitor hospitalized patients and provide nursing care
-Support the team in daily operations and emergency situations
Qualifications:
-Veterinary technician experience is preferred but not required
-Willingness to learn and be trained
-Strong attention to detail
-Self-motivated and able to work independently
-Adaptable and dependable
-Excellent multitasking and organizational skills
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team
-Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
-Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday
Schedule:
-Full-time preferred; part-time applicants will be considered
-Must be willing to share weekend shifts
-Must be available for emergency on-call duties approximately 5–7 nights per month
Important Expectations:
Veterinary medicine is not a desk job. Team members should expect to work on their feet for several hours each day and regularly encounter animal f***s, urine, vomit, blood, and other bodily fluids. The position can be physically demanding, emotionally challenging, and occasionally stressful.
