I dug this in this summer so I could view the Koi in the winter. I drilled down using hydraulic water pressure 20 feet, when I hit sand I had positive artesian water flow. I mounted an aquarium powerhead to the 2” pipe improve water flow. Without the pump, I was getting 1 gallon per minute with the pump, I’m getting 2.5 gallons per minute. The water that comes out of the ground is around 40°, which is warmer than the pond water. That’s why I think they school up on it in the winter.

Love is in the air today at AI Koi spring Pond! They always spawn first right around Mother’s Day then again 2- 3 weeks later and sometimes the beginning of July but not every year.
