PRAY FOR MINNIE 🥺
UPDATE 8/1 6:14P
🐾 Minnie Update 🐾
We have a few small victories to celebrate today. ❤️
Minnie has started accepting tiny amounts of boiled chicken and white rice. We have to feed her very slowly in small portions about every hour to hour and a half, but we're thrilled that she's willing to eat something. Every little bite feels like a step in the right direction.
This morning she returned to the veterinary clinic for another round of treatment, including additional fluids and medications. Tomorrow morning she'll head back again so her veterinary team can continue monitoring her and giving her the care she needs.
One hurdle we're still working through is hydration. While she's accepting small amounts of food, she's still refusing to drink water on her own. That's one of the things we're praying will turn around soon.
Another unknown is when her bowel movements will return. In one sense, we're thankful the bloody diarrhea has stopped because it means she's no longer losing blood the way she was. But eventually her digestive system has to start working again, and we're anxiously waiting to see what happens when that time comes. 😬
One thing that has surprised us is that Minnie has become incredibly attached to me through all of this. Normally she's a total daddy's girl, but right now she wants me within her sight at all times. If I leave the room, she immediately lets me know she's not happy about it. ❤️ So for now, my job is simply to stay close, keep her calm, and make sure she knows she's safe.
Her little personality is beginning to peek through again, and we've even seen flashes of that ornery Minnie attitude that we all know and love. Those moments make us smile more than I can put into words.
We still have a long road ahead, and we're taking this one hour, one meal, one treatment, and one small victory at a time. Please continue to keep our sweet girl in your prayers as we work through these next hurdles.
Thank you all for loving Minnie as if she were your own. We truly couldn't ask for a more caring community. ❤️🐾
UPDATE 7/31 2:48p
🐾 Minnie Update 🐾
First, I want to thank each and every one of you for the incredible outpouring of love, prayers, messages, and positive thoughts for our sweet little Minnie. Reading your comments has brought us so much comfort during an incredibly difficult couple of days.
Minnie is spending today back at the veterinary hospital receiving another full day of IV fluids, medications, and close monitoring. While she's still very sick and we're certainly not out of the woods yet, there were a few small things today that gave us hope. She had only one bleeding episode overnight.
The biggest challenge right now is getting her to eat and drink on her own. She's still refusing food for the veterinary staff, and her appetite just isn't there yet. Because of that, she will come home with additional medications and supplies so we can continue her treatment here, including subcutaneous fluids to help keep her hydrated. I've already boiled chicken breast anticipating her arrival home this evening.
It's going to be a long weekend of around-the-clock care, medications, fluids, lots of love, and watching her very closely. We're taking it one step at a time and celebrating any & every tiny victory.
Please continue to keep Minnie in your prayers. We're hoping each new day brings a little more strength, a little more appetite, and another step toward recovery.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for loving our little girl. Your kindness, encouragement, and prayers mean more to us than words can express. ❤️🐾

7/30
Today has been one of the hardest days we've had in a very long time.
Early this morning, our sweet little Minnie became suddenly and critically ill. One minute she seemed okay, and then everything changed so quickly. She developed severe bloody diarrhea and was rushed to the veterinarian. After examining her, our veterinarian diagnosed her with HGE (Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis), a very serious condition that can become life-threatening in a very short amount of time.
She received aggressive treatment today, including a large amount of IV fluids and medication, and she was stable enough to come home this evening. The difficult part is that we're not out of the woods. Right now, she's still considered to be in a very critical stage, and the next day or two will tell us a lot. We still don't know what caused this or why it happened so suddenly. It has all been incredibly shocking and heartbreaking.
Tomorrow morning, Minnie will be returning to the veterinary hospital for another full day of treatment. She'll receive additional IV fluids, medications, and close monitoring throughout the day. At that point, her veterinarian will reassess her condition and help determine what the weekend may look like and where we go from here. Right now, we're simply taking this one hour at a time and hoping for small signs that she's continuing to fight.
If you've followed Minnie's journey, you know she's not "just another cavalier" to us. She's our tiny little girl with the enormous personality who has brought smiles to so many people. Right now, seeing her so sick is something we never imagined, and we're honestly shaken.
I don't ask for much, but today I'm asking for something I truly believe in.
If you pray, would you please pray for Minnie? Pray that her little body heals, that the medications do what they're supposed to do, that her strength returns, and that she makes a full recovery. If prayer isn't part of your life, we'd be so grateful for your positive thoughts, love, and good wishes.
Thank you for loving this little girl as much as you all have. It means more than you'll ever know. ❤️🐾
