Wedgewood Pharmacy has recalled certain compounded veterinary medications and is contacting affected clients directly.
If you received a recall notice for your pet’s medication, please call us promptly so we can help you make a safe treatment plan.
Interrupting some medications can carry risks, so we want to help coordinate an appropriate alternative and support your pet’s stability during this change.
Follow your recall notice’s instructions, including stopping use of the affected product, and contact us immediately for guidance about the next dose. If we are closed and a dose is due before we reopen, contact an emergency veterinarian for advice.

🐾 Myth vs. Fact: Indoor Pets & Parasites 🐾

🚫 Myth: “My pet stays indoors, so they can’t get fleas, ticks, or worms.”

✅ Fact: Even indoor pets are at risk! Parasites can hitch a ride on shoes, clothing, other pets, or even through open windows and doors. Mosquitoes (which spread heartworm) don’t care if your cat or dog is inside.

Why it matters:
Fleas can cause itching, allergies, and tapeworm infections.
Ticks can transmit serious diseases.
Heartworms can be deadly — and prevention is far easier than treatment.

⚠️ Is your ferret hiding dental pain? ⚠️

Ferrets are masters at masking discomfort. Because they chew on cage bars, toys, or hard objects, they frequently crack their teeth or suffer from silent gum infections.
Keep an eye out for these 5 signs of ferret dental issues:
• 😾 Changes in Eating: Preferring soft food over kibble, dropping food, or eating less.
• 🤤 Drooling or Pawing: Excess moisture around the mouth or frequently rubbing at their face.
• 🦨 Bad Breath: Ferrets have a natural musky scent, but truly foul breath is a red flag for infection.
• 🟥 Red, Swollen Gums: Signs of gingivitis and advancing periodontal disease along the upper jaw line.
