Happy Vet Tech Appreciation Week!

We have used this week to celebrate our amazing staff and all the care they provide. Behind every successful veterinary practice is a team of incredible people who give so much of themselves to care for the animals who depend on us.

Our staff are the ones comforting a nervous pet, holding a paw during a scary moment, celebrating a patient’s recovery, staying late for the ones who need extra care, and carrying the emotional weight that comes with loving animals so deeply. They work through the long days, the difficult cases, the unexpected emergencies, and the heartbreak of saying goodbye. They celebrate the victories, no matter how small, and show up every day ready to give their very best.

Veterinary medicine isn’t always easy, but having people who care as deeply as you do makes all the difference. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, hard work, and heart you bring to our team every single day.

Thank you so much for always showing up! Our patients are lucky to have you. Our clients are lucky to have you. We are lucky to have you!

Heat Stroke Can Turn Deadly in Minutes
With temperatures climbing, it's important to remember that dogs and cats cannot cool themselves like we do. Even a short time in the heat can quickly become an emergency.

Signs of heat stroke include:
Excessive panting
Thick drool
Rapid heartbeat
Weakness or collapse
Vomiting or diarrhea
Confusion, stumbling, or seizures
Bright red or pale gums

How to prevent heat stroke:
Walk pets early in the morning or later in the evening.
Always provide fresh water and shade.
Avoid hot pavement—it can burn paw pads.
Never leave your pet in a parked vehicle, even for "just a minute."
Remember that brachycephalic breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, Shih Tzus, etc.), senior pets, overweight pets, and those with heart or respiratory disease are at especially high risk.

🚨 If you suspect heat stroke:
Move your pet to a cool area immediately. Wet them with cool (not ice-cold) water, place a fan on them if possible, and head to your veterinarian right away. Heat stroke can cause organ damage even if your pet appears to improve.

If you have questions or think your pet may be suffering from heat stroke, contact Hopkinsville Animal Clinic immediately. We're here to help keep your pets safe all summer long!

🎆 Anxiety Medication Reminder 🎆
As fireworks season approaches, many pets experience increased stress and anxiety from loud noises. If your pet may need anxiety medication, please plan ahead!
To prescribe any medication, your pet must have been examined by one of our veterinarians within the past year. If your pet is due for an exam, we'd be happy to schedule an appointment and discuss options to help keep them comfortable during the festivities.
📞 Call us today at 270-215-5865 to schedule your pet's appointment.
Don't wait until the fireworks start—help your furry family member have a safe and stress-free holiday! 🐾❤️💙

Kitten season is here! If you find kittens outdoors, please do not immediately pick them up—mom is often nearby and will usually return for them. If the kittens appear warm, quiet, and safe, monitor from a distance first.
Also, avoid exposing found kittens to cats in your home. Even healthy-looking kittens can carry infectious diseases and parasites.
