The Christian County Animal Shelter is a regional shelter that serves the counties of Christian, Trigg, and Todd Counties. Our mission is to help animals in need through sheltering, adoption, education, spay/neuter, and community outreach. We strive to build a community where people value animals and treat them with respect and kindness thus bringing an end to the cruelest practices towards animal

s. We aim to lower the number of homeless/unwanted animals and build a stronger animal protection movement within the community. Hi… my name is Prada. 💛

I’m only about a year and four months old, but I’ve already learned that life isn’t always kind.

I don’t know what it feels like to have a family that’s truly mine. I don’t know what it’s like to fall asleep every night knowing I’m safe, loved, and never going to be left behind. But I dream about it every day.

I’m a beautiful brindle and white Pit Bull mix with a heart that still believes there’s someone out there for me. Despite everything I’ve been through, I still greet people with a wagging tail and hope in my eyes. I still believe my person is coming.

I love being around other dogs and would be so happy to have a furry friend to play with. More than anything, though, I just want someone who will love me and never give up on me.

I do struggle a little with food. Sometimes I worry that what’s mine might be taken away, and I can become protective during mealtime. The shelter thinks it’s because of things I experienced before I arrived here. I’m not trying to be difficult—I’m just scared sometimes. With patience, understanding, and kindness, I know I can learn that I’ll never have to worry about my next meal again.

The shelter isn’t sure yet if I’m house-trained or crate-trained, but I’m young and ready to learn. I just need someone willing to teach me and believe in me.

I’ve had my first round of vaccines, flea and tick treatment, and dewormer. I’ll need to come back for my spay appointment, but I’m ready to start my new life as soon as you are.

Every day I sit and wait, watching people walk past my kennel, hoping someone will stop and see me. Not just another shelter dog—but a girl who has so much love left to give.

Maybe that someone is you.

Carolina has a calm demeanor and tends to take life at her own pace. She isn’t the type to demand attention right away—instead, she prefers to quietly observe and build trust on her own time. Because of this, she’ll need a patient and understanding adopter who will give her the space and kindness she needs to come out of her shell.

While we’re unsure how she does with other dogs, cats, or children, Carolina’s soft nature suggests she may do well with slow, proper introductions. Her big personality is there—you just have to give her the time and love to let it blossom.

Jessie Girl is a 7-month-old Labrador Retriever mix with a gentle heart and a loving spirit. She came to us as a stray and, sadly, was never reclaimed. Now she’s hoping her next stop will be a forever home filled with love.
This sweet girl is doing well with her kennel mate and has shown herself to be calm, affectionate, and incredibly kind. Jessie Girl can still be a little nervous while she adjusts to new surroundings, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through. She’s the type of dog who will form a deep bond with her person and love you with her whole heart.
Because Jessie was found as a stray, we are still learning about her. We don’t yet know how she does with kids or cats, and we’re unsure if she is house trained or crate trained. With her young age and gentle nature, she has lots of potential to learn and grow in a patient, caring home.
