I set a goal for myself early on in my competition career, to be a well rounded groomer. I have never shied away from a challenge, even if it’s a breed I’ve never groomed before or very few times. I truly believe the only way we get better is by stepping outside of our comfort zone, allowing ourselves to make mistakes and learn from them. When you’re in that ring, it’s you against yourself. I get asked all the time: “when do you know you’re ready to start competing” when you’re brave enough to allow yourself to make mistakes and when you’re strong enough to learn from those mistakes instead of beating yourself up.
I have only groomed Kerry Blue Terriers a handful of times, definitely not enough to be an “expert” on the breed. Nonetheless I have really enjoyed getting to learn this trim, getting to know the breed and seeing my progress as I allow myself to grow. Believe me, the first time was a train wreck 🤣
