🎉🐾 Happily ever after for Ricky the ferret! 🐾🎉

When Ricky first arrived at Hopewell Animal Services (after inviting himself into the wrong home 😄), we had a feeling he’d capture some hearts… and wow, did he ever!

After receiving so much interest, we are thrilled to share that Ricky has found an amazing home with an experienced owner 💛

And it gets even better… he now has a new brother named Splinter 🐾🐾

We’ve already gotten these adorable updates of Ricky settling into his new home, and it’s safe to say—this is a perfect match. We just know these two are going to have the best time together 🥰

🎉🐾 Tiny name… BIG personality—meet TEACUP! 🐾🎉

Don’t let the name fool you—this 1–2 year old, 50-pound dilute brindle-and-white beauty is a full-on party in dog form 💃🐶

Teacup is your pre-packaged fun, ready to go wherever life takes you. She’s exuberant (seriously… the zoomies are a must-see), affectionate, outgoing, and always down for an adventure.

🐾 Loves long walks (especially with dog friends!)
🐾 Recently discovered sand at the river… and LOVED it 🏖️
🐾 Strong walker but attentive and eager to please
🐾 Knows “sit” and takes treats gently
🐾 Big fan of fetch… well, the chasing part—we’re still working on the return 😄

She’s thrilled to get out of her kennel and soak up every moment of life, and her joy is completely contagious 💛

🩺 Teacup is heartworm positive and will need a committed adopter to help her complete treatment. This means a few months of exercise restriction—but we promise, she’ll be worth the wait and then some.

We had a feeling this one wouldn’t take long—and Liberty proved us right 💛

When this adorable, smaller-sized, dog-friendly, and super affectionate girl arrived at Hopewell Animal Services, she checked all the boxes. And sure enough, just one week later… she strutted right out of the shelter doors and into her new life ✨

Her new owner is absolutely thrilled—and honestly, Liberty looks pretty darn happy about the whole thing herself 🥰

These are the moments we live for… when the perfect match comes together and a dog doesn’t have to wait long to find their person.

🛡️✨ Warrior Princess XENA is ready for her next chapter ✨🛡️

At 3–4 years old and 45 pounds, Xena is a stunning brindle-and-white beauty with a story of resilience—and a heart that’s ready to love 💛

When she first arrived at Hopewell Animal Services, it was clear life hadn’t always been kind to her. Underweight at just 34 pounds, she needed time, care, and a whole lot of love. And look at her now… healthier, more confident, and truly starting to shine 🌟

Xena can be a little shy in busy or social situations, but give her some quiet one-on-one time and you’ll see her for who she really is—an incredibly affectionate, calm, and loyal companion.

Seriously—how is this handsome guy still here?! Meet Jingles, a caramel-and-white, 60 lb hunk of perfection who keeps getting overlooked (and we truly don’t get it!) 💛

Around 2–3 years old, Jingles is the total package. Maybe a mix of hound, lab, and pittie—but 100% good boy. He’s a volunteer favorite for a reason ✨

He might burst out of the kennel with excitement (same, honestly), but he quickly settles into a nice, medium energy groove and is ready to be your adventure buddy.

🧀🐾 Say Cheese… because you just found your new best friend! 🐾🧀

Meet Cheese—a stunning 1–2 year old, 72 lb tan and white lab/hound mix who’s already stealing hearts 💛 (and maybe dreaming about snacks… same, girl 😄)

While she’s still settling into shelter life, we’re quickly learning just how special she is. Cheese can be a little shy with new people and loud noises, but give her a few treats and a little time—and boom—her playful, affectionate, slightly goofy personality shines ✨

Some dogs stop you in your tracks. Panda is one of them.

This 4-year-old, 50-lb white-and-brindle beauty is fully vetted, spayed, and ready for the right person — someone who understands that the most rewarding dogs are often the ones who ask a little more and give so much more in return.

Panda is deaf, but don’t underestimate her for a second. She’s incredibly smart, picks up cues quickly, and is laser-focused when treats are involved. She learned “sit” almost immediately and walks beautifully on leash. If her attention drifts toward people or other dogs, a well-timed snack brings her right back — she wants to work with you, she just needs clear communication.

Panda does need a dog-savvy adopter who can help her navigate some reactivity around people and other dogs. With patience, structure, and kindness, she absolutely shines — and the bond you’ll build with her is something truly special.

Once Panda trusts you, her heart opens wide. She’s affectionate, playful, and wonderfully silly, trotting over for pets, leaning in close, and lighting up when a tennis ball appears. Fetch isn’t just a game — it’s her love language, and she’s proud to show off her skills.

🐾 He Came. He Charmed. He Went Home. 🐾

From stray to superstar to spoiled family pup — Decklin’s journey is one we won’t forget anytime soon. 💙

This adorable, affectionate, and playful young pittie mix arrived at Hopewell Animal Services as a stray back in early March. Despite his charm and lovable personality, no one ever came looking for him. But Decklin didn’t let that dim his spirit — he waited patiently, greeting everyone with a wagging tail and a hopeful heart.

A couple of weeks ago, Decklin got his big moment at Rescue Roundup at Richmond Animal League — and WOW, did he make the most of it! 🌟 He soaked up the attention, showed off his fun-loving personality, and quickly became a fan favorite.

And then… the moment we all hope for 💫
He caught the eye of his future mom, who soon brought the whole family back to meet him. It didn’t take long — Decklin had found his people.

Now officially home, Decklin is living his best life with a family of his own and even a sister to keep up with his playful antics 🐾 We’re already hearing wonderful updates, and our hearts couldn’t be fuller.

Also known as: The Millionaire, Cash Money, Big Hoss and a certified good boy 💛

Chamillionaire is a 6–8 year old, 65 lb white and blue brindle pittie mix who is fully embracing his laid-back era—and honestly? We love that for him 😌

A volunteer favorite (because everyone knows the older guys are the BEST), he’s all about the simple things in life: easygoing walks, soft beds, and soaking up attention from his people. He’s got a little excited trot when the mood strikes, but overall? Total chill king.

🐾💙 Kevin’s Done the Work — Now He’s Ready for His Person 💙🐾

Kevin has been thriving in an in-home board & train program with Letteer Dog Training, and the progress he’s made has been incredible ✨
Now, all he needs is a home of his own.
Whoever adopts Kevin is getting something truly special — not only an amazing dog, but a well-trained companion. His new person will learn everything he’s been working on to ensure a smooth transition, plus receive lifetime training support to keep him set up for success.

✨ Meet Kevin ✨

Kevin is the kind of dog who doesn’t do anything halfway—especially when it comes to loving his people. He’s social, affectionate, and convinced everyone he meets is a potential best friend. His snuggles are next-level—he’ll press into you with his whole body
like he’s trying to become one with you.

He’s also a total goof. Think lanky, uncoordinated teenager still figuring out where all his legs go. He’s endlessly entertaining, playful, and always ready to turn something into a game.

He prefers to meet new people outside first rather than having strangers walk straight into the home—after that, he’s all in.

Kevin is an active adolescent who thrives with regular exercise, structure, and clear outlets for his energy. He would love a dog friend to wrestle and play with, but he’d also be happy as an only dog with the right engagement from his people.

Because of his enthusiasm and lack of body awareness, he would do best in a home without small children.

Kevin is very responsive and loves to work with his people. He’s a quick learner who has picked up multiple cues, plus a few fun ones like paw and spin. He’s been working hard on building better impulse control and learning how to settle, and his adopters will
be set up to continue that progress—you’ll learn everything he’s been working on before he goes home, and you’ll have ongoing support to make sure things continue in the right direction.

Kevin is about 1.5 years old and 50 lbs. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, crate trained, and house trained. He settles well both in his crate and out in the home.
