☀️💛 SUNSHINE: SMART, SWEET & A WHOLE LOT OF FUN! 💛☀️

Meet Sunshine, a 2-year-old, 45-pound fawn-and-white red-nosed Pittie mix who's definitely living up to her name! This girl is HAPPY. Like “leash me up, let's go, I have places to explore and people to kiss” happy. 😂🐾

Sunshine is fun, affectionate, playful and SMART! She's easy to leash, loves getting out for walks and appears to be housebroken. Once she's taken care of business, she's ready for adventure!

And sometimes that means…
ZOOMIES. ON LEASH. 💨😂

Sunshine is young, energetic and full of that wonderfully goofy Pittie personality. She can get a little jumpy when excited, but she's mostly just thrilled to be included!
💕 Loves EVERYONE — never met a stranger and gives plenty of kisses
🧠 Knows sit! This is one smart girl!
🦴 Very treat motivated and eager to learn
🐶 Enjoys other dogs and wants to play — meet & greets required
🐾 Easy to leash and loves exploring

✨ Ridiculously soft fur around her head and neck — you'll want to keep petting her!

Sunshine may have been a little unsure when she first arrived, but those days are behind her. She's now a happy, social, affectionate girl with personality to spare!
She wants to explore. She wants to play. She wants your treats and scratches.
And she would VERY much like to kiss your face. 😂💋

🐾💙 CHEVY: BUILT LIKE A BOWLING BALL. BOUNCES LIKE A PUPPY! 💙🐾

Meet Chevy, a 2-year-old, white-and-grey American Bully mix who's squatty, snorty, ridiculously goofy and a WHOLE lot of fun! 😂❤️

This little tank somehow manages to bounce around like a puppy despite being built like a bowling ball with legs! He's happy, confident, a little spazzy and has a tail that turns into a helicopter the second you start petting him. 🚁💕

Here's what makes Chevy so much fun:

🎾 Toy lover! Loves fetch, entertaining himself with a ball and picking up random treasures on walks that he thinks should be toys.

💕 Self-appointed lap dog! Hopped onto a bench and plopped himself right into a volunteer's lap. Apparently, nobody told Chevy he's not exactly lap-sized!

🐾 Happy and enthusiastic! A little easily distracted, but always ready for fun and affection.

🧠 Knows sit and takes treats very gently!

🐶 Potentially dog-friendly! Has shown nice body language with other dogs on leash. Meet & greets required!

🏡 Best with adults or older kids! Chevy is a lovable bull in a china shop — not because of his size, but because he approaches life (and especially his toys!) with absolute wild abandon. 😂

Chevy may not be the most refined gentleman, but he's a snorty, toy-loving, affection-seeking little wrecking ball who will keep you laughing and happily climb into your lap like he belongs there. ❤️

He's ready for a family who appreciates his unique brand of wonderful!

💙🐾 CHROME: BIG MUSCLES. TINY EARS. EVEN BIGGER HEART! 🐾💙

Meet Chrome, a 1–2-year-old, 60-pound dilute tricolored Pittie mix who's built like an athlete and sporting what might be the tiniest cropped ears we've ever seen.
Seriously, there's barely anything left of them. Sorry, Chrome. 😂❤️

We can't help but imagine how handsome he'd be with a big, floppy set of natural Pittie ears! 😍

Fortunately, what Chrome lacks in ear real estate, he MORE than makes up for in personality! This boy is happy, affectionate and absolutely LOVES people! He's never met a stranger, happily soaks up scratches and attention, and has a tail that seemingly NEVER stops wagging!

Here's what else we love about Chrome:
💕 Affectionate and social! Loves people and all the attention they're willing to give.
🐾 Enthusiastic walker! Strong on leash initially but settles into a nice pace. Loves stopping to investigate every interesting smell!
🧠 Smart and treat motivated! Knows sit and shake and takes treats very gently.
🏡 Seems housebroken! Another promising sign for life outside the shelter.
🐶 Very interested in other dogs! Chrome gets excited and focused when he sees canine friends. He could potentially do well with a similarly sized dog following proper introductions, but we suspect he'd be happiest as the only pet.
💪 Athletic and full of life! Would love a family who enjoys walks, adventures and spending time together.

Chrome is just one of those dogs who's HAPPY to be with you. Whether you're out exploring or simply giving him some love, he's all in!

We can't give Chrome his floppy ears back, but we CAN help him find the loving home he deserves. 🥹💙

He's ready to trade shelter walks for neighborhood adventures and kennel time for couch time!

🤎🐾 CRYSTAL WANTS TO BE YOUR NUMBER ONE! 🐾🤎

Meet Crystal, a 4–5-year-old caramel-colored Boxer/Pittie mix with a stunning black muzzle, beautiful eyes and just the right amount of sass! ❤️

Crystal isn't the girl who's going to roll over and offer you her belly the moment you meet her. She's a girl who believes trust should be earned. But put in a little effort, and you'll be VERY well rewarded! Once you're in her circle, Crystal is a sweet, affectionate, loyal companion who genuinely loves spending time with her people.
One of our favorite things about her? The way she looks at you on walks. Crystal frequently checks in, batting those pretty eyes at you as if she's flirting.
“Just making sure you know how happy I am to be here with you.” 😂❤️

Here's what else makes Crystal special:
💕 Loves her people and builds strong connections with those she trusts.
🧠 Smart and responsive — knows sit, listens to her handler and responds well to guidance.
🦴 Very treat motivated — she'll sit patiently, staring into your eyes while awaiting direction. And possibly calculating how many extra treats she can negotiate. 😂
🎾 Enjoys fetch and rolling around in the grass.
🛁 Loves being brushed and getting belly rubs — and is even wonderfully tolerant of baths!
💁‍♀️ A little sass, a little silliness — occasionally gets fired up but responds well to redirection. A girl with personality!
🐶 Prefers to be your one-and-only pet — Crystal wants to be the center of someone's world.

Crystal may not be an instant-best-friend kind of girl, but she's the kind who makes earning her trust worth every minute. She's smart, affectionate, playful and just sassy enough to keep life interesting.

💙🐾 PJ: THE EASIEST WALK AT THE SHELTER… AND A PRETTY AMAZING HOUSEGUEST, TOO! 🐾💙

Meet PJ, a 4–5-year-old, 65-pound white-and-grey Pittie mix with the cutest little ears and one of the sweetest personalities around! ❤️

We've always known PJ was special, but after a recent off-site adoption event and a sleepover with one of our volunteers, we're even MORE convinced this boy is ready for a home of his own!

PJ stole hearts at the event, and his overnight report card? STRAIGHT A's! 🏡🥹

Here's what we've learned about this handsome guy:

🏡 Housetrained and well mannered! Quiet, content and wonderfully behaved in the house.

💕 HUGE cuddler! Loves affection and being close to his people.

🚗 Excellent car companion! Excited to go for rides and travels beautifully.

🐾 Dream on leash! One of the easiest dogs at the shelter to walk. Gentle, easygoing and frequently checks in with his person.

🧠 Smart and polite! Knows sit and shake, takes treats incredibly gently and could easily learn more.

🐶 Potentially dog-friendly! Previously lived with another dog and does well around most dogs on walks. Meet & greets required.

🐱 Previously lived with cats, too! Slow introductions are always recommended.

PJ came to the shelter with a canine companion who's since been adopted. Now it's HIS TURN! ❤️

He's already shown us what a wonderful companion he can be — affectionate, easygoing, well mannered and perfectly happy just being near his people.

PJ doesn't need much. Just a family to love, a cozy place to curl up and someone who appreciates a really, REALLY good dog. 🥹💙

💕🐾 MAPLE HAS LEFT THE BUILDING… AND TAKEN THOSE FABULOUS EARS TO HER FOREVER HOME! 🏡❤️

When this adorable, petite little girl arrived at Hopewell Animal Services, we were SURE someone would come looking for her. Seriously, how could anyone be missing that face and those ears?! 😍

But no one came to claim Maple — and as it turns out, that made another family VERY happy! 🥹

When we posted Maple as available for adoption, one family knew they had to meet her. They patiently waited until she was spayed, came for a visit, and it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! ❤️

Last week, Maple strutted out of the shelter for the very last time, headed to a home where we're pretty sure she'll be spoiled absolutely rotten!
She's got a wonderful family to love her, and we have a feeling her new human brother will be her BESTIE in no time! 💙

From an unclaimed stray to a cherished family member — that's the kind of happy ending we LOVE! 🥹🏡

💙🐾 MISSED CONNECTIONS: BLUE-EYED HUSKY SEEKS NICE LADY FROM SNOUTREACH! 🐾💙

YOU: Wearing a navy vest, hair in a braid, possibly work at the hospital in Hopewell. Very nice. Excellent taste in dogs. 😍

ME: Gorgeous blue-eyed Husky. Eyeliner absolutely ON POINT. Fluffy, affectionate and on my very best behavior. 💅🐺

WHERE WE MET: Community SNOUTreach Richmond SPCA yesterday.

THE CONNECTION: Immediate. We vibed. There may have been some flirting. I was definitely feeling it. ❤️

THE PROBLEM: Someone had already submitted an adoption application for me, so my volunteers thought I had a forever home lined up.

Turns out, the timing isn't going to work out, and I'm still single and looking for my happily ever after! 🥹

So, lovely lady in the navy vest, if you're reading this…

IT'S ME, ELEVEN! REMEMBER ME?! 💙

I know you may have met another wonderful dog yesterday and found your perfect match. If so, I'm genuinely happy for you!

But if you're still looking, well… I happen to know a gorgeous Husky who's very interested in a second date. 😘

💙🐾 JACOB: ONE BLUE EYE, TWO PAWS TO SHAKE & A WHOLE LOT TO LOVE! 🐾💙

Meet Jacob, a 2–3-year-old, 44-pound black-and-white Pittie mix with one absolutely stunning blue eye and what we think is just about the perfect-sized package—not too big, not too small, and plenty of room left on the couch for you. 😂❤️

Jacob is an incredibly easy dog to walk. He doesn't feel the need to rush anywhere. Instead, he happily meanders along without pulling, taking his time to investigate all the important smells along the way. Because apparently every blade of grass deserves a thorough review. 😂🌱

And this handsome guy has brains to go with that pretty face.
🧠 Knows sit AND paw
🐾 Occasionally upgrades “paw” to BOTH PAWS AT ONCE
🦴 Very treat motivated
🚶 Easy, relaxed leash walker
👃 Curious and loves a good sniffing expedition
🚗 Hopped right into the car like he was ready to go somewhere
💕 Super affectionate and playful

Jacob has also shown us some nice potential with other dogs. He seems comfortable around them on leash and appears to prefer lower-energy canine friends. When another dog is coming in a little too hot, Jacob's response tends to be more “Yeah...I'm just going to stay over here.” 😂

As always, meet & greets are required to make sure everyone is a good match.
Jacob is heartworm positive, but please don't let that keep you from considering him. We can help him get the treatment he needs once he's in a home. ❤️

What really stands out about Jacob is just how easy and enjoyable he is to spend time with. He's affectionate without being overwhelming, playful without being completely bananas, smart, curious and happy to cruise along beside you.

And at under 45 pounds, he's basically the Goldilocks of Pitties.
Not too big. Not too small. Just right. 💙
Now we just need to find the person who thinks Jacob is just right for them, too. 🥹🐾

Our volunteers are bringing FIVE fantastic pups to Richmond SPCA, and they're ready for an afternoon of fresh air, new friends and hopefully a few forever-home connections! 🏡💕

💦 DANI — Our Water-Loving Sweetheart!
This 2–3-year-old, 40–45-pound Shepherd mix has blossomed from a shy girl into a playful, affectionate companion! She's smart, knows sit, down and paw, loves exploring and is happiest when there's water involved!

💙 ELEVEN — Supermodel Looks, Professional Snuggler!
This gorgeous 2-year-old, 45-pound Husky has stunning blue eyes and a personality to match! She's affectionate, playful, loves water and walks, and is a total cuddle bug when it's time to relax. She's beauty AND personality!

💕 MAGGIE — Our Velvet Baby Hippo!
Maggie is a 4–5-year-old, 50-pound blue-and-white Pittie who's made an incredible transformation during her time at the shelter! She's affectionate, playful, loves car rides and outings, and would happily stop to greet EVERY person she meets. She's ready for adventures and a couch of her own!

🌊 XENA — Our Adventure-Loving Explorer!
This 3–4-year-old, 45-pound brindle-and-white Pittie mix LOVES exploring, swimming, splashing through puddles and discovering new places! She's an enthusiastic walking companion with a sweet, affectionate side and a whole lot of personality.

🎾 TEACUP — The Ultimate Party Girl!
Teacup is a 1–2-year-old, 50-pound white-and-blue brindle Pittie who's basically happiness on four legs! 😂 She's outgoing, affectionate and LOVES people, water, giant sticks and tennis balls. If you're looking for a dog who makes every day more fun, she's your girl!

PJ and Dani had a fantastic time at Pizza Bones tonight! 🍕❤️ And tomorrow, we're heading to Community SNOUTreach at Richmond SPCA with even MORE adoptable dogs!
