🦝 News Flash 🦝

Beginning August 7, 2026, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) and several local health departments, will begin distributing oral rabies vaccine (ORV) baits by air and ground to immunize wild raccoons in targeted areas of northeastern Ohio.

What to do if you come into contact with ORV 💉
•Do not attempt to remove baits from an animal’s mouth. Ingesting the vaccine will not harm
your pet. Vomiting from the waxy sachets and diarrhea from the coating of the vaccine have
occurred in dogs that have ingested numerous baits.
• Leave baits where they are, unless they are found in areas frequented by children or pets. In
that case:
-Relocate them to a less accessible area, or
-Place them in a sealed bag and discard them in the household trash.
• Use gloves or a paper towel to handle baits, especially if the bait is damaged or if you have
cuts on your hands. Although there is no harm in touching an undamaged bait, using these
precautions will protect against an unknown exposure to the vaccine.
• If the blister pack is punctured and the liquid vaccine is visible, wash your hands and any
exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water.
• Individuals with vaccine exposure to skin, eyes, or mucous membranes should seek medical
attention if they experience any rash, fever, sore throat, headache, conjunctivitis, vomiting, or
diarrhea within 21 days of the exposure.

The moment you’ve all been waiting for!! 🛻

If you’ve been following along with Trucks pool day story, here’s your final day! Our dear friend truck decided, whats a pool day without a friend? Mr. rubber ducky wanted the live action magic school bus, and he sure got it! With the help of Dr. Figurski and her surgical team, they were able to remove Trucks friend via a fabulous endoscopy! Truck of course went straight back to the pool the next day, lonely of course!
