Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be scary for our furry friends. Help keep your pets safe this holiday by:

🎆 Keeping them indoors in a quiet, secure room during fireworks
🏷️ Making sure their collar, ID tags, and microchip information are up to date
💊 If your pet needs anti-anxiety medication, call us now for a refill—don’t wait until the last minute!
🚪 Keep doors and gates closed, as frightened pets can easily slip out

🐾 NEW WORLD SCREWWORM: WHAT PET OWNERS SHOULD KNOW 🐾

Recent news reports have highlighted cases of New World Screwworm (NWS) in the southwestern United States. While NWS has NOT been detected in Alabama, awareness is important.

New World Screwworm is a parasitic fly whose larvae can invade living tissue, causing painful and serious wounds in dogs, cats, livestock, and wildlife.

⚠️ Contact your veterinarian if your pet has:
• A wound that won’t heal
• A wound that is getting larger
• A foul odor from a wound
• Visible maggots
• Excessive licking or discomfort

✈️ Traveling with your pet? Animal health officials are increasing oversight of interstate movement of warm-blooded animals. If you have questions about travel requirements or health certificates, we’re happy to help.
