One of the hardest things for us to hear as a veterinary team is, “You’re only in it for the money.”

This human medicine doctor did an incredible job breaking down just a small fraction of what veterinary professionals face every single day.

Our patients can’t tell us where it hurts. They can’t explain when their symptoms started, what they’re feeling, or what might have happened before they became sick. They can’t tell us if they ate something they shouldn’t have, if they’re dizzy, nauseated, painful, or struggling to breathe.

We have to put those pieces together for them.
And many times, the only way we can paint that bigger picture is through diagnostics—bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasound, CT, monitoring, and other testing that helps our doctors determine what is happening and, most importantly, how we can help.

The reality is that providing emergency and critical veterinary care comes with significant costs. The in-house diagnostic equipment that allows us to get answers quickly costs money. Medications and medical supplies cost money. Maintaining specialized equipment costs money. Having trained veterinary professionals available to provide ICU-level care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year costs money.

When your pet comes through our doors, our team doesn't see a dollar sign. We see a patient who cannot tell us what is wrong and a family who desperately wants answers.

We understand that veterinary care can be expensive, and we know how difficult those conversations can be—especially when you're already scared for your pet. We don't take that lightly.

We chose this profession because we care deeply about animals. Unfortunately, compassion doesn't make the equipment, medications, supplies, staffing, or diagnostics free.

☀️HEATSTROKE CAN BECOME FATAL IN MINUTES ☀️

As temperatures continue to rise, it's important to remember that heatstroke is a true medical emergency in pets. Dogs can overheat much faster than people, and by the time obvious signs appear, they may already be in critical condition.

🚨 Watch for:
• Excessive panting or difficulty breathing
• Bright red gums or tongue
• Drooling, vomiting, or diarrhea
• Weakness, staggering, or collapse
• Lethargy or unresponsiveness

🐾 Pets at higher risk include:
• Short-nosed breeds (Bulldogs, Pugs, Boston Terriers, etc.)
• Long-haired breeds
• Puppies and senior pets
• Overweight pets
• Pets with heart or respiratory disease

💧 Prevention Tips:
• Provide plenty of fresh water
• Limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day
• Ensure access to shade and air conditioning
• Avoid hot pavement that can burn paw pads
• NEVER leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes

If you suspect your pet is experiencing heatstroke, move them to a cool area and seek veterinary care immediately. Every minute matters.

This is a full-time position responsible for helping maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our patients, clients, and staff. If you take pride in your work, enjoy staying busy, and appreciate the freedom to work independently, we'd love to hear from you.

Position Details:
• Supportive team environment
• Hours will vary and include evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Daily responsibilities are assigned, but you will have the flexibility to work at your own pace while ensuring tasks are completed
• Must be dependable, motivated, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment
