Yes! This trail will be a 💎 of Post Canyon! Let's make it happen!
It takes a whole village, including those who aren't avid mountain bikers.
The Phelps Creek trail is made for hikers, runners, dog walkers, or anyone who wants to enjoy Post Canyon without a bike. The Phelps Creek No-Wheeled trail is a vital project for our community to finish. We need help getting this project done from the entire community, not just mountain bikers.
If you have donated to HRATS recently, we would love it if you encouraged your non-biking friends to get behind this project with a donation.
The Phelps Creek Equestrian/Hiker/Runner trail has been over a decade in the planning. It is being hand-built with the user experience in mind and has an adopter who is motivated to make it happen. This “no wheel” trail will increase the safety of all user groups by providing a dedicated experience for equestrians and pedestrians. When completed, it will be the longest trail in the Post Canyon system, stretching from Family Man to Binns Hill.
This trail is supported, in part, by a grant awarded to Hood River County by Oregon State Parks. The County has completed the first phase of a grant-required cultural resource survey at the site of a planned staging area at Binns Hill. The findings have triggered a second phase of study.
Hood River County has already ordered this study and does not need us to raise the full amount. However, we are seeking funds to help offset the anticipated costs ($18,000) to the County for this additional work. This is a fantastic opportunity for the no-wheeled community show some financial support for this important project.
Please share and donate below if you can.
