🐾🌟 Meet Mr. Pluto — Our September Pet of the Month! 🌟🐾

September is already a special month for Mr. Pluto, because his Gotcha Day is September 1st! ❤️ He found his forever home on September 1, 2017, and now, nine years later, he’s kicking off his Gotcha Month as a STAR! ⭐🐶

Mr. Pluto was rescued from a high-kill shelter in Dallas, Texas, and brought north by It’s Ruff Without a Roof in Union Dale. Since then, he’s traded shelter life for the VERY good life! 🥰

His favorite things include playing with his toys, being a professional lap sitter, munching on Milk-Bone Meaty Bones, enjoying his Farmer’s Dog meals, and sleeping tucked between pillows like the pampered little prince he is. 👑🐶💤

And can we please talk about these pictures?! 😂 Mr. Pluto clearly has style. One minute he’s standing on his hind legs showing off his impressive meerkat impersonation, and the next he’s posing in a plaid hat and scarf looking like a distinguished little gentleman ready to spend the afternoon sipping tea and discussing his investment portfolio. 🎩☕😂

Then there’s the Santa hat. 🎅 Apparently Mr. Pluto doesn’t just celebrate Christmas — he IS Christmas.

Between those fabulous ears, his excellent fashion sense, and a face that seems to say, “Yes, I really am this adorable,” Mr. Pluto was clearly born for his Pet of the Month photo shoot. 📸⭐

From a Texas shelter to a life of pillows, gourmet meals, treats, toys, laps, and an impressive hat collection, Mr. Pluto is one happy, very loved little dog. 💙

It’s official!

WE’RE OFFICIALLY OPEN TOMORROW!!!!

After a very long road, Steamtown Veterinary Center will officially open our doors tomorrow!!!

Beginning tomorrow, 08/22/2026, we’ll be here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For anyone who is new to our page, Steamtown Veterinary Center is a privately owned veterinary hospital created to provide Northeastern Pennsylvania with emergency veterinary care when your pet is sick, injured, or needs immediate care.

We are not here to replace your regular veterinarian. We’re here to work alongside the amazing general practices in our community by providing emergency and urgent care, hospitalization, surgery, diagnostics, and continued care when your regular veterinarian may not be available.

Our hospital is equipped for:
• Emergency and urgent veterinary care
• 24 hour hospitalization and monitoring
• Emergency and urgent surgery
• Soft tissue surgery
• Dentistry, dental radiographs, and oral surgery
• Digital X-rays
• Ultrasound
• In house laboratory testing
• Oxygen support and critical care
• And more

For now, we will primarily be seeing dogs and cats. We may have veterinarians working who have a special interest or experience in exotic animal medicine. When those doctors are scheduled, we’ll let everyone know that exotic appointments or emergencies may be available during those specific shifts.

At this time, we do not have any exotic focused shifts scheduled, so for now, please consider us a dogs and cats only hospital unless we announce otherwise.

Starting tomorrow, if your pet needs us, we’re here, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We’re excited to share that there will soon be a closer option for emergency veterinary care in our area!

While we hope our clients never need it, we’re grateful to know that help is closer to home when a beloved pet needs emergency care.

Our phones are officially up and running!

While Steamtown Veterinary Center isn’t open just yet, we’ll be in the office until 7 PM tonight and would love to start getting you and your pets into our system.

Give us a call and we can get your basic information set up ahead of time. That way, once we’re open, if you ever need us for an emergency or urgent visit, you’re already in our system and there’s one less thing to worry about.

Steamtown Veterinary Center is not a general practice, and we are not here to replace your primary care veterinarian. We are an emergency and urgent care hospital here to work alongside the great veterinary practices in our community when your pet needs more immediate care.

In addition to emergency and urgent care, we will also be performing surgeries.

We’re getting close and can’t wait to open our doors and start serving the community!
