Ivan and a couple friends found a nettle bush in the pasture. Well, Ivan‘s go big or go home attitude got him the worst forelock tangle I have seen in years.  Of course his owner was out of town.  I was shorthanded this week with a broken down tractor and had no spare time to work on it.  His owner’s sister came over to try her hand with it, but it was a bit too big of a project.  She soaked it with Cowboy Magic though before she left. 
I typically give my students a choice as much as possible of what they would like to do in their lesson. Sarah aspires to own her own horse so today she chose to take on Ivan‘s matted forelock. 45 minutes later, tada! Use 101 for a hoof pick!
What was really amazing is that Ivan put his head down and stood still while she worked on him. He knew she was trying to help and I’m sure that felt pretty uncomfortable with the mat pulling on his hair. Not very different from mats in a dog or a cat coat.
