From the OG crew who started it all to our current crew, Athena & C**t, there have been a whole lot of paws, personalities, lessons, laughs and love along the way. 🐶

📚🍎 It’s back-to-school season across Citrus County!

As teachers and staff prepare to welcome students back into the classroom, K9 Sammy has been getting ready too! 🐾 We had the opportunity to spend some time with this Dawg Phonics success story as he sharpened his scent detection skills and, of course, soaked up plenty of well-deserved dog lovin’.

Sammy was rescued through Rescue Dogs Dream, Inc. and trained at Dawg Phonics before going on to become a scent detection K9 with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office. Today, he helps keep our schools safer by detecting vapes and other prohibited items—a job he performs with incredible enthusiasm and precision alongside his handler, Donna Pecoraro-Bateman.

We’re honored to have played a role in Sammy’s journey and proud to provide training services that support our local law enforcement and schools. Thank you, Donna, for your dedication to protecting our students and for the incredible work you and Sammy do every day.

To all of the students, teachers, administrators, and school staff across Citrus County—have a safe, successful, and amazing school year! ❤️📚🐾
