In just ONE WEEK, the Swamp Donkey Drill Team will be hitting the road and heading to Ocala for the SSMDTA Ocala Competition! 🏆

Back in June, we made our way to Jacksonville and had such a successful trip! Now, we can’t wait to be back on the road together, see all of the amazing teams, compete, make memories, and hopefully bring home MORE RIBBONS! 🏅

The miles may be long, but there’s nowhere we’d rather be than together, doing what we love!

Be sure to follow along as the Swamp Donkeys travel across Florida, chasing ribbons, making memories, and representing Homestead along the way! 🌴🐴

GET TO KNOW THE SWAMP DONKEYS! 🩵

The Swamp Donkey Drill Team travels across Florida competing in different divisions as part of the Sunshine State Mounted Drill Team Association (SSMDTA)!

We’re one of many amazing teams that come together to perform mounted drills, compete, and—most importantly—do what we all love with our equine partners. There’s something so special about seeing teams from all over Florida come together, each bringing their own style, personality, and team spirit! 🤠✨

Every team has its own team colors, and we LOVE proudly showing ours off whenever we get the chance!

One of our favorite competition traditions is polo-only competitions, where teams get to ditch the fancy show shirts and show off their team colors!

We’ve been getting plenty of rain here in Homestead lately, but somehow the days have been ending with the most beautiful sunsets!

We are so thankful to the Little Farm for allowing us to have all of our practices here. We truly appreciate having a place where we can come together, ride, practice, and enjoy these beautiful evenings as a team. 🧡

There’s nothing quite like ending the day in the saddle, surrounded by your teammates, horses, and a beautiful Florida sunset. We’re so grateful for these moments! 🌅

Two weeks until we leave for Ocala for our next SSNDTA competition!!

Until then, here’s a little throwback from our last competition in Jacksonville! These competitions may take us far from home, but we definitely know how to make the most out of every drive, every trip, and every location we get to visit.

The competition is always the goal, but the memories we make along the way are just as special! 🩵🩵

After taking the entire month of July off from practice, these girls knew it was time to lock in!

With our next competition quickly approaching, we know we have to work together as a team and make the most out of every practice we have left. We may be a little rusty after our break, but as they say, practice makes perfect! 🩵

Long time, no see! 👀🐴

These donkeys have been hard at work getting ready for the next Sunshine State Mounted Drill Team competition on September 11th, 12th, and 13th in Ocala, Florida!

We may have been a little quiet lately, but don’t worry—we’ve been taking lots of pictures and videos, so get ready for us to become more active and show you what these donkeys are all about!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the amazing moms on our team and to every mom out there supporting their child’s dreams — especially our drill team moms 💐🩵Thank you for the endless support, encouragement, late nights, early mornings, and everything you do to help us chase our goals.

A very extra special shoutout to Mrs.Wendy, who got involved in riding because of her daughter and has since become so much more to all of us. Not only are you an amazing mom, but you’ve taken every kid on this team under your wing and become the best bonus mom we could ask for. We love you so much, Wendy Cotgreave Stamatyades! 🩵

Go back to Monday when we had our Teamsgiving! We are so thankful for everyone who supports us and cheers us on—whether you’re in the stands at competitions or cheering from home. Your love and encouragement mean the world to us.

We’re excited to see what we can continue to accomplish together as a team. And of course, we couldn’t do any of it without our amazing horses and dedicated riders. 🐴💛
