Feeding raw can feel overwhelming when you first start. 🥩🐾

How much do I feed? Do I need to feed only raw? Should I rotate proteins? What does their p**p mean? 😂 Am I even doing this right?

Take the pressure off. 🤍

You don't have to know everything on day one, and you don't have to do everything perfectly.

At Raw Instincts, we believe part of caring for our animals is learning to steward well what God has entrusted to us.

“The righteous care for the needs of their animals.” — Proverbs 12:10

For us, that means getting back to the simplicity of what God created: real food, simple ingredients, variety, and learning to pay attention to the animal right in front of you.

That's also why we don't want to simply sell you a bag of food.

**We want to teach you how to feed it.**

We want you to understand why proteins are rotated, why portions change, why age and activity matter, what you're seeing in the bowl—and yes, even what you're seeing when you pick up the p**p. 😂💩

Because knowledge removes fear.

🐾 **Senior pets deserve more than simply growing old—they deserve the opportunity to thrive.**

One of the biggest lessons I've learned over the years is that aging isn't a disease.

Yes, our dogs and cats will get gray faces, slower steps, and longer naps. That's a beautiful part of life.

But many of the changes we accept as "just getting old" deserve a second look.

What if we started asking better questions?

💪 Are they maintaining muscle?

🥩 Are they receiving enough high-quality, species-appropriate protein?

🌱 Are they digesting and absorbing the nutrition they're eating?

💧 Are they truly hydrated?

🍖 Is a reduced appetite a symptom instead of the problem?

At Raw Instincts, we believe functional health isn't simply the absence of disease...

**It's the presence of vitality.**

Every fresh meal, every walk, every observation, and every act of intentional care is an investment in your pet's future.

Because stewardship isn't about chasing perfection.

Green tripe isn't popular because it's pretty—it's popular because it's biologically appropriate.
Dogs don't judge food by appearance. They judge it by instinct.

We are living in an age of suppressed signals instead of restored biology.
GLP-1 drugs promise control — of appetite, weight, and outcomes — but control is not the same as healing. In both humans and pets, these drugs interrupt systems that were designed to work together: gut, pancreas, hormones, muscle, and metabolism.
When we silence hunger instead of asking why the body is hungry, we trade wisdom for speed.
When we override design instead of supporting it, long-term health is often the cost.
Our pets are not experiments.
They cannot consent.
And they feel the consequences faster than we do.
Scripture reminds us:
“The righteous care for the needs of their animals.” — Proverbs 12:10
Stewardship means choosing restoration over suppression.
Faithfulness over shortcuts.
Nutrition that supports life — not strategies that mute it.

Pet food manufacturers have significantly shaped the narrative around feeding pets, particularly kibble, by using Marketing and branding, Veterinary endorsement, nutritional claims like “vet approved”, “balanced”, “scientifically formulated” which all means nothing. They also control supply chains and provide convenience and cost that real food doesn't. All of this promotes skepticism toward alternatives but not skepticism towards kibble being too good to be true.
