Messenger Marsh Messenger Marsh in Homer Glen offers a dog park, picnicking, fishing and hiking. Open 8 a.m.-sunset.

The Forest Preserve District of Will County's Messenger Marsh provides parking areas for cars and horse trailers, latrines, a shelter, and access to an off-leash dog park (permit required) and 5.01 miles of the limestone Spring Creek Greenway Trail, ideal for horseback riding, bicycling, hiking/running, and, in the winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

We're sprucing up the Messenger Marsh Dog Park, and we'd love your help! Dog park permit holders are invited to join us for a morning spreading wood chips, removing suckers from tree trunks, filling in divots and trimming vegetation along the fence line. All supplies and tools will be provided. Registration is required.

The Forest Preserve District has five treasures waiting for discovery in its preserves as part of a new geocaching program.

The Forest Preserve District has placed geocaches in five preserves as part of a new recreational offering, which is the first time the District is sponsoring its own caches in the preserves.  

Permits purchased now are good for the remainder of 2021 through December 31, 2022.

Permits purchased now are good for the remainder of 2021 through December 31, 2022.

Dog park permits can be purchased online or in person at Sugar Creek Administration Center starting Monday, November 1, and at three other visitor centers beginning on Tuesday, November 2. The permits can be used at all six Forest Preserve District dog parks and are good through December 31, 2022.
