📣✨LETS TALK 📣✨ …
🐾 ✂️ Grooming prices 💵
We’ve seen a lot of conversation lately about grooming prices, so we wanted to take a minute to explain and give some insight as to why our prices are what they are.
Grooming is a skilled profession that takes time, patience, knowledge, and a LOT of physical work. It’s hard on our backs, shoulders, wrists, hands, knees, and feet, and we put our bodies through it every day because we genuinely love what we do. Here at Jan’s Paws N Claws, between the three of us… Jan, Molly, and Shawna. We have 46 years of grooming experience.
There are so many costs that go into running a professional grooming salon that aren’t always obvious. Water, electric, shampoos and conditioners, cleaning and sanitation supplies, blades and scissor sharpening, equipment maintenance, repairs, insurance, taxes, and everything else required to keep a salon running properly.
We take tremendous pride in our work. We believe every dog should leave our salon comfortable, clean, completely dry, beautifully finished, and looking professionally groomed.
We believe in taking our time and giving dogs breaks when needed. We do not believe in pushing dogs beyond their limits, especially seniors.
Every dog is different. Even dogs of the same breed can have completely different coat types, sizes, temperaments, and grooming needs. All of these factors affect the time, tools, and techniques required to properly groom that individual dog, and those things are reflected in our pricing. Temperament can also affect pricing. If a dog requires an extra set of hands, that means another groomer is stepping away from their own client to assist. Difficult or unsafe behavior can also significantly increase grooming time because we have to work with the dog carefully to keep both the dog and groomer safe.
Then there are things like fleas and ticks. Some may say, “Isn’t that part of your job?” The answer is no. Our salon is located inside Jan’s home, and all three of us have our own animals. For the health and safety of our clients and our personal pets, flea and tick prevention is required to remain a client of our salon.
One thing is for certain: We do not base our prices on what another groomer charges, and we don’t expect you to compare our prices or our work to anyone else’s. Every groomer has different experience, expenses, standards, and ways of running their business. We know what goes into ours, we know our worth, and we stand behind both our work and our pricing.
We understand that our prices and policies may not be right for everyone, and that’s completely okay. We would rather have clients who value the quality, care, and experience we provide than try to be the cheapest option.
We highly encourage consistency for your dog. Please don’t bounce from groomer to groomer simply looking for the lowest price. Dogs build trust and familiarity with their groomer, and constantly changing people, environments, and routines can make grooming much more stressful for them.
At the end of the day, we aren’t trying to compete for the cheapest price. We’re here to provide quality work, genuine care, and a professional grooming experience, and we’re proud of what we do.
Thank you to all of our past, present, and future clients for supporting us and allowing us to do what we love. Here’s to 21 years of Jan’s Paws N Claws serving our community. We appreciate you more than you know. ❤️🐾
