We had a wonderful day at the Southern Maryland 250th Liberty & Legacy event celebrating the dedication of a Maryland Liberty Tree and the other historic, cultural, and natural resources in the Southern Maryland National Heritage Area.

Which trail will you be exploring today for National Trails Day? 🥾🌿 Here are just a few of the trails at Greenwell State Park...

⚫️River Trail
Great for hiking beginners, this gravel trail features beautiful views of the Patuxent River and leads to a beach!

🟤Brown Trail
This trail has a little bit of everything featuring open fields, views of the river, and some time in the forest shade. This is one of the trails our horses travel on for our Trail Ride Program!

🟠Orange Trail
For those looking for more of a challenge, this trail offers more secluded wooded views and wetlands- so be on the lookout for wildlife!

So grab your friends, family, and even leashed pets and see what you can spot out on the trails! Be sure to pack plenty of water and bug spray, and follow safe hiking practices. We'll see you out on the trails!

These ponies are popular!- Only 10 reading spots remain for our next Pony Tales with St. Mary's County Library next Saturday, June 13th from 2-4pm! 🐴📖🌟

This FREE program introduces young readers and their families to the joys and benefits of reading and spending time with horses. Readers are paired with one of our horses or other barnyard animals to read out loud to their new pony pal in front of their stall. The day also includes a fun craft, an interactive sensory station, and a special storytime at 3:00pm!

This is an extra special Pony Tales as our friends from St. Mary's County Library and their Mobile Library Unit will be on-site to provide the craft and storytime!

Reading Slots Full?- You can still have some Pony Tales fun!
-Check out a book on horses from the Mobile Library Unit
-Enjoy a special storytime for everyone at 3:00pm
-Spend the day exploring the beautiful trails and beaches of Greenwell State Park and spot more of our herd out in the pasture
-Don't worry, more Pony Tales dates are on the way this fall!

Get ready to explore the Patuxent River- Guided Kayak Tours are back and better than ever! 🛶

With more dates, discounts for seniors and college students, and new paddle offerings- there's even more chances to get out on the water!

Guided Kayak Tours are the perfect way to immerse yourself in nature, connect with others, and explore the local waterways at a leisurely pace. Launch from our accessible kayak launch and enjoy a 2hr guided paddle on the beautiful Patuxent River.

No experience? No Problem! Each paddle begins with a short lesson on safety and paddling basics. Plus all equipment is provided and the group is led at a slow pace by our American Canoe Association (ACA) Level 1 Certified Instructor. All experience and skill levels are welcome!

Paddle dates are offered throughout the kayaking season, now through the beginning of October. But don’t wait to book, offerings fill quickly!

We had the best time at this event connecting with new families, saying hello to familiar faces, and working alongside other wonderful organizations to provide a safe and fun night for friends with disabilities and their families! 💫

Alongside our friends at Still Waters Refuge, LLC we introduced many new people to the joys and benefits of equestrian and sensory activities. Many left excited to spend more time with horses! 🐴

Thank you to the Calvert Marine Museum & Calvert County Parks and Recreation for hosting and we can't wait for the next one! 💚
