Summer Camp Registration is open! We initially opened 2 sessions up, but since they filled in less than 48 hours before we even got the chance to post it, we decided to open up 2 more. Both have just a few spots left. Even more exciting, we just opened up another week of camp at Chewie's Playland!

Looking for your next agility or sport prospect? "Cowboy" is an adorable six month old cattle dog/border collie (and possibly part piranha) mix who fell on hard times when his owner was deported and he was being given away on FB. To avoid him going to a bad situation I told his caretaker I could foster and help find an appropriate home or rescue group. I have only had him 48 hours, so will write this up with as much as I have observed in a short time.

Pros: He is very sweet and playful, and he loves toy play! He will tug, fetch, return, and drop (mostly), balls and soft toys both. Once he is comfortable with you he wants to be near you, play and cuddle on your lap and follow you around. He has energy for days! At this time I would say high toy drive, moderate food drive. Dog friendly (convinced my socially awkward aussie to play on day 1). He is a blank slate and can likely go in multiple directions.

The cons: little to no training so far. Can be a little nervous with new people, seems to warm up quickly. Can be pushy in play with both dogs and humans, has energy for days (did you see the cattle dog mix part?), has a set of 6 month old cattle dog teeth and knows how to use them (on toys, hands, forbidden items if not monitored). Needs work on potty training, but no accidents when in xpen. Complains loudly at first when left alone, but will settle and sleep, I suspect this will improve as he gets used to routine.

Seeking adopter, but also in need of short term foster Sunday-Wednesday while I drive my oldest back to college. Could be an opportunity to "test the waters" or just do me a big favor. Happy to try to answer any questions I can.

Must be cattle dog savvy. Suggest no small children, as he is not tested with children yet. No vaccination records, so must start over, adoption fee applies. Lo Baker says adopt him so she doesn't have to! Tish Frank Webb please share with your cattle dog peeps 🙂

Happy New Year from Poppet, Mysti, and Arrow! I hope you are all having fun with your dogs, but in case you need more fun this winter, we have 3 group classes starting this week at Chewie's Playland.

1) Puppy Group Class - Tuesdays, 5pm. We focus on socialization and confidence building, but we also answer all your new puppy questions (potty training, chewing, biting, crating, enrichment, etc.) and start on the road to good basic manners. Ideal for puppies 5 months and under, but ask if your older pup really needs the confidence building piece.

2) Basic Manners Group Class - Tuesdays, 6:15pm. Get started on all those basic behaviors you wish your dog knew! Work on settling in a group, sits, downs, coming when called, greeting people, loose leash walking, and more! We also have discussion topics each week on problem behaviors you may be facing at home.

3) Intro to Tricks and Agility for fun and confidence building -Thursdays, 5:30pm. Interested in trying agility obstacles with your dog? Want to teach them a new party trick? We split time training some confidence building tricks (in, on, spin, touch, wobble board, etc.) and agility obstacles like jumps, tire, a-frame, dog walk, etc.) Teaching tricks and agility is a great way to have fun and bond with your dog! No previous experience necessary.

Hope to see you there!
