Keeping the familiar things familiar. 🐾

When a dog’s person is away, I try to keep the important parts of their normal rhythm in place.

For Danny Boy, that means his walks, familiar meals, time to sniff and explore, a little enrichment and play, and plenty of downtime at home.

Every day doesn’t have to look exactly the same. What matters is giving a dog enough familiarity, predictability, and comfort that life still feels steady while their person is away.

Walk. Sniff. Play. Rest. Repeat. 💚

Danny Boy has settled beautifully into our little routine this week.

Back with Danny Boy. 🐾💚

There’s something pretty special about walking through the door and having a dog remember you right away.

I’m back in Florida with Danny Boy for the next several days, and from the moment I arrived, it felt like we picked up right where we left off.

We’ve been out walking, playing tug, exploring the neighborhood, and settling back into our familiar routine together. He’s such a sweet, happy boy, and I’m so glad to be spending this time with him again.

Sometimes the best part of caring for a dog is simply knowing they feel comfortable, connected, and happy to see you again.

So good to be back with you, Danny Boy. 🥰🐾

Welcome to the pack, Ghost, aka Big Boy. 🐾

Ghost recently joined us for Adventure Hikes, and he has already been such a fun addition to the crew.

He brings plenty of personality, energy, and enthusiasm to the trail, and I’m excited to keep giving him opportunities to explore, move, and enjoy some great adventures with the pack.

A special thank you to Alexandra Bassette of Dog Savvy SLC for trusting me with her own boy. That kind of trust means a lot, and I’m so happy to have Ghost joining us on the trails. 💚

Here’s to many more adventures, Big Boy.

There’s something special about a small pack. 🐾

This morning we traded the heat for 63° mountain air and headed up Granger Peak for a brand-new adventure with Seeley, Bronwyn, and Jackson Brown.

One of my favorite things to watch was Seeley naturally setting the pace. She’d head off to explore the hillside, and Bronwyn—still fairly new to Adventure Hikes—would follow right along, gaining a little more confidence with every climb.

But the best part?

No matter how much exploring they were doing, they kept checking back in with me.

Those little check-ins matter. They’re something I encourage and reward because freedom on the trail should still come with connection.

It’s also one of the reasons I keep my Adventure Hike groups small. I want to know where every dog is, stay connected to each one, and reinforce the choices that help them safely enjoy more freedom.

A beautiful morning, a great little crew, and a whole lot of adventure. 💚

Meet Sadie. 🐾

Sadie and I have been spending quite a bit of time together lately, walking, exploring, playing in the water, and building confidence one experience at a time.

She’s curious, strong, playful, and has definitely shown me that she loves an adventure. 💚

Like every dog I work with, Sadie gets to move through the world at her own pace. Some days that means exploring a new trail, and other days it simply means finding a little more comfort in something that once felt difficult.

I’m excited to share more of this sweet girl and her journey with you.

Bronwyn’s Adventure Continues 🐾

We started Bronwyn’s first Adventure Hike on a long line, giving her plenty of room to explore while we built trust and worked on recall.

After consistently checking in, responding when called, and making great choices on the trail, she was ready for a little more freedom.

And she did beautifully. 💚

Bronwyn explored, climbed, adventured alongside the other dogs, and continued choosing to check back in with me along the way.

That’s one of my favorite parts of these hikes: watching trust grow into confidence, and confidence into freedom.

Bronwyn’s Adventure Continues 🐾

After starting her first Adventure Hike on a long line, Bronwyn continued to show me exactly what I was hoping to see—reliable recall, frequent check-ins, and thoughtful choices on the trail.

As that trust grew, so did her freedom.

She earned the opportunity to explore off leash, and watching her move confidently through the trail while still choosing to check back in with me was such a rewarding moment.

Adventure isn’t just about going farther. Sometimes it’s about building enough trust to give a dog a little more freedom. 💚

Bronwyn’s First Adventure Hike 🐾

For Bronwyn’s first hike, we started on a long line so she had room to explore while still staying safely connected.

She showed thoughtful curiosity around the dogs we encountered, choosing brief greetings, then comfortably moving away when she had enough. As the hike continued, she became noticeably more relaxed and confident in her surroundings. No pressure. No forced interactions. Just the space and support she needed to enjoy the experience at her own pace.

A very encouraging first adventure for this sweet girl. 💚

✨ Welcome to the Pack, Bronwyn. 🐾

Every dog starts somewhere.

Just a few months ago, Bronwyn was fearful of strangers. Today, she confidently hopped into my car and began her Adventure Hike journey.

Watching her curiosity grow, check in with me on the trail, and discover that the mountains can be a safe and fun place was such a privilege.

A huge thank you to Lexi Bassett for trusting me with this sweet girl and for cheering us on every step of the way. I’m so excited to watch Bronwyn continue to blossom. 💚

Small dog. Big adventure. 🐾⛰️

This was Hank’s very first Adventure Hike, and he couldn’t have impressed me more.

We started on a long line, giving him the freedom to explore while building trust together. Before long, he was making such great decisions—and checking in with me so consistently—that he’d earned a little more freedom.

One of my favorite things? Watching this little guy confidently tackle rocky trails and giant boulders without hesitation. His confidence, curiosity, and willingness to stay connected made him an absolute joy to hike with.

I’m looking forward to many more adventures with you, Hank. ❤️
