β€οΈ One of my FAVORITE things about living in Holiday, FL is the sense of COMMUNITY! π‘β€οΈ
One thing I absolutely love about our little neighborhood is that whenever something happens, we all come together. We talk to one another, we help each other out, we look out for our neighbors, and somehow, even when things arenβt going as planned, we find a way to make the best of it and have a little fun along the way! π₯Ήβ€οΈ
Wednesday night was the PERFECT example of that!
I was on my way home from work, it was pouring rain, traffic was backed up, and I noticed EVERYONE was outside. The roads were pretty flooded, so I rolled down my window and asked what was going on.
Come to find out, the bridge was being blocked off because the lake was rising, the water was too deep to drive through, and multiple cars had already gotten stuck or broken down trying to make it through! π³π§οΈ
Of course, my first reaction was PANIC! π WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CANβT GET HOME?!
But as I sat there, I noticed something that reminded me why I love living here so much.
The WHOLE neighborhood was outside! Everyone was talking to each other, trying to figure out what was going on, discussing different ways to get home, and helping the people whose cars were stuck.
At that point, I decided I was just going to park my SUV at the corner store and WALK HOME THROUGH THE WATER! π
Luckily, my fiancΓ© has a truck and was able to take a different route that normally floods even worse! But since his truck sits higher than my SUV, he was able to make it through and come rescue me and my neighbor from CVS! πβ€οΈ
But what really stuck with me wasnβt the flooding or the inconvenience of trying to get home.
It was seeing the entire neighborhood come together. β€οΈ
Neighbors helping neighbors. People standing outside having conversations. Everyone trying to help the cars that were stuck. And then you had the kids out there with their boogie boards, having the time of their lives like the whole neighborhood had turned into a water park! ππββοΈπ
It was a stressful situation for a lot of people, especially those whose vehicles were damaged, and everything in my garage getting ruined but seeing everyone come together and make the best of a bad situation was something special.
THIS is what I love about Holiday, Florida. β€οΈ
We might not live in the fanciest neighborhood, and things might not always be perfect, but thereβs something about living somewhere that people still talk to their neighbors, look out for one another, and come together when something happens.
Sometimes itβs the little things that remind you how much you love where you live.
At the end of the day, itβs not just about the houses or the streets. Itβs about the PEOPLE who make a neighborhood feel like HOME. π‘β€οΈ
And Wednesday night was definitely one of those moments that reminded me why Iβm thankful for our little community.
Holiday, FL β thereβs no place like home! β€οΈπ΄
