**Lights Out Alert This Weekend**

Heads up birders, a lot of migration is expected during Labor Day Weekend. The fall migration season is about to kick into high gear. We have a unique set up this weekend as a strong area of low pressure in the Atlantic will be tilted just right to provide a wind from the north to northeast across the Northeast and eastern Great Lakes region. The low level wind flow will continue to guide birds toward the Gulf. Saturday night will likely be the biggest migration night of the weekend with more than 300 million birds in flight. We are about 2-3 weeks away from the fall migration peak. You can help by turning off those outdoor lights on big migration nights.

The farmers are getting angry....

The 37 horses at Animals 911 Shelter in Ukraine need enough hay to survive the coming winter. The shelter's founder Robert Sargysan has managed to secure 4,500 bales, about half of what he needs to get through winter, but now he owes local farmers more than $7,000 and he's at great risk of losing the food supply.

“The farmers call me every day,” Robert says. “This is making it very difficult for me to agree on further hay purchases. This is a very, very critical situation.”

These aren't ordinary horses. They were abandoned on the front lines of war in Ukraine. They survived more than 35 shellings, injuries, months of uncertainty, and a dangerous evacuation to safety. Yesterday, a new foal was born and we must wonder what the future holds.

Robert has one enormous problem left: how to feed the horses through the winter. They survived the war. Please help us make sure they survive the winter.

Rescuing bears is a special honor. These animals are beautiful, inquisitive, intelligent, and deeply emotional. We thank our lucky stars for the ones who have been rescued, and continue to diligently work to save the lives of others who are living in captive cruelty. FOOD FOR ANIMALS IN UKRAINE

An unexpected opportunity meant 7.5 additional tons of donated dog food could be sent to help the abandoned and homeless animals of Ukraine—but only if the extra transportation costs could be covered.

Harmony Fund was honored to contribute toward those transportation expenses, joining other compassionate supporters to help make this lifesaving shipment possible.

When you're feeding animals in a war zone, every truckload matters. This food will help nourish hundreds of dogs—and even hungry cats, who are grateful for any food they can get—as it makes its way to shelters and frontline rescuers across Ukraine.

Help for Animals After Venezuela's Earthquake

The dog in this photo was completed buried under rubble and rescuers worked for hours to get him out. The earthquake in Venezuela has left countless animals in crisis.

Two of the rescue centers Harmony Fund supports have been destroyed. Frightened dogs and cats are wandering the streets, separated from their families or left with nowhere to go.

We've already rushed emergency funding to our local rescue partners so they can provide free emergency veterinary care, rescue injured animals, and begin rebuilding.
