🎉🎉Please join us in welcoming Dr. Kaili DeSantis to the Sachem Animal Hospital family!

Born in South Korea and raised on Long Island, Dr. DeSantis earned her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Equine Studies from Long Island University Post before continuing on to receive her DVM from Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2025.

As a recent graduate, Dr. DeSantis is passionate about providing the best possible care for her patients while building strong, lasting relationships with clients and their pets. She also has a special soft spot for feline companions and black Labrador retrievers.

When she's not at the hospital, you can find her watching Anime with her boyfriend and spending time with their two cats, Grizzabella and Kaiju as well as their hamster, Demeter.

We are so excited to have Dr. DeSantis join our team and cannot wait for all of you to meet her! Please help us give her a warm Sachem welcome! 🎊🎊🎊

Some superheroes wear scrubs covered in fur, slobber, and the occasional mystery stain.

It’s Veterinary Assistant Appreciation Week, and we want to recognize the people who somehow manage to do a little bit of everything, all at once.

They are the treat bribers, the head-tappers, the patient snugglers, the supply hunters, the emotional support humans, the chaos coordinators, and the calm in the middle of a very loud treatment room.

They celebrate the happy moments with us, carry the hard ones with us, and somehow still find reasons to laugh through even the busiest days.

Veterinary assistants are often the glue holding the day together, and this hospital simply would not function without them.

To our assistants at Sachem Animal Hospital: thank you for your heart, your grit, your patience, and everything you do for our patients, clients, and team every single day. We appreciate you more than you know. 🐶🐱✨

Today we said goodbye to someone who has been so much more than just a veterinarian to our team.

After his final shift at Sachem Animal Hospital, we want to thank Dr. Kim for the care, dedication, laughter, and yes… all of the unforgettable shenanigans he brought to our hospital every single day.

While we are incredibly sad to see him go, we are so excited for this next chapter as he moves to Rochester so his partner can pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. That kind of love and support is something truly special, and we couldn’t be happier for them both.

Dr. Kim, thank you for everything you gave to our team, our clients, and our patients. Your impact here will last far beyond your last shift. Sachem will always be a home for you, and you will always be part of our family.

Some journeys are special to watch unfold. This journey is one of them.

Dr. Adams joined Sachem Animal Hospital in 2020, after graduating from Kansas State University. From day one, it was clear how deeply he cared: about his patients, his clients, and the people he worked beside. Over the years, we've watched Dr. Adams grow not only as a veterinarian, but as a leader, mentor, teammate, partner, and friend.

Now, in 2026, seeing him step into the role of Medical Director feels incredibly meaningful because it reflects years of hard work, dedication, and genuine passion for the profession. His leadership is thoughtful, supportive, and grounded in doing what is best for both patients and people.

We are so proud of everything Dr. Adams has accomplished and so grateful for everything he brings to our team every day.

CONGRATULATIONS, Dr. Adams! Your Sachem Animal Hospital family is so lucky to have you, and we are so excited for this next chapter with you helping lead the way.

Tonight was a powerful reminder of what veterinary medicine truly looks like behind the scenes at Sachem Animal Hospital.

Just as our team was preparing to end the day, an 11-month-old kitten named Midnight came in after getting into hair ties... something that can quickly become a very serious emergency.

Without hesitation, our team stayed late and immediately jumped into action.

No complaints.
No second-guessing.
Just teamwork, compassion, and a shared commitment to doing everything possible for a patient in need.

Veterinary medicine is often portrayed as routine appointments, puppy kisses, and cuddling kittens. While those moments absolutely exist, the reality is so much deeper. It’s long days, emotional cases, quick decision-making, and teams willing to stay long after closing because an animal needs them.

Moments like tonight don’t happen because of policies or protocols. They happen because of people. People who genuinely care, who lead with heart, and who are dedicated to every life that comes through our doors.

We are incredibly proud of our team for the compassion, skill, and dedication they show every single day.

Midnight was in the best hands tonight. ❤️
