Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. Paws4Survival Rescue Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs.

Paws4Survival is a nonprofit (501c3) organization dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Puerto Rico street dogs. We provide veterinary care, shelter, and socialization in a daycare facility to prepare these dogs for adoption in the New York and New England area. Our strategic plan focuses on the town of Arroyo in the Southeastern part of the island, however we always help with pleas from local rescuers. Within Arroyo, there are two beach areas, Playa Chiropolis and Malecon in which we work to keep the dogs safe from animal control. Our volunteers provide basic shelter, food and water and care is provided until an opening in our program is available. Dogs that are not candidates for our program are captured for spay/neuter and returned to the beach to live under our care.

From being told she only had 30 days left, to thriving on day 124.

Mamie (formerly Angel) came into rescue almost entirely by chance. While a neighbor was surrendering another pup in need, they rushed over and handed Mamie over too, gasping for air and barely able to breathe.

Thanks to an echocardiogram donated by TT’s Foundation and performed at South Coastal, we received devastating news: end-stage heart disease, with an estimated 30 days left to live.

Today marks day 124.

Now officially named Mamie, she spends every single day surrounded by pure devotion with her foster mama, Lauren.

Dedicated medical care, daily heart meds, and endless love proved to be exactly what this sweet little chihuahua needed. 🧡

Zero apps for Doofy. Zero apps for Mochi.

Here is the hard truth of rescue: if we don’t get movement on these two, our doors have to close to any incoming medium-sized dogs. When dogs get stuck in rescue, other dogs in need run out of options.

Doofy and Mochi are ready, loving, and deserve a home of their own.

An urgent update on Arena, and how you can help her cross the finish line 🐶🇵🇷

Two months ago, Arena was found wandering the streets of Piñones: skin and bones, pregnant, and battling heartworms. Her emergency spay saved her life, and now that she’s regained her strength, she officially begins her heartworm treatment next week.

Because of her size and needs, boarding costs alone will reach $900 by the time treatment starts. As a small rescue, these critical expenses add up fast, and we cannot do this without your support.

BLACKY UPDATE 🖤🐾

Remember our little parvo fighter, Blacky?
After losing his mom and siblings, battling parvo, and fighting so hard for his life, we finally get to share the update we’ve all been hoping for…

Blacky is ready for his family. 🥹🧡

And the best part? He already has one waiting for him.

Blacky will be joining a wonderful family who has adopted from Paws4Survival before, which makes this full-circle moment even more special. From being the lone surviving puppy fighting for his life to having a loving home waiting for him, this little boy has come so incredibly far.

To everyone who donated, shared his story, prayed for him, and helped cover his medical care: you helped make this possible. Blacky was given the chance to fight, heal, and now finally begin the life he deserves.

Next stop: HOME. 🏡🖤

It turns out this rescue story hits even closer to home 🥺🇵🇷

We just found out that the four 12-week-old puppies recently rescued outside a factory in Puerto Rico are actually the younger siblings to the litter we brought over back in April! They share the very same momma, and our team on the ground is actively working to safely trap her so we can finally get her spayed.

Meanwhile, her four newest babies (2 boys and 2 girls, weighing just 6–8 lbs) are receiving essential veterinary care, food, and shelter in Puerto Rico while we prepare them for their forever journeys.

Five month old Firework has arrived from Texas and this stunning CH kitten is already stealing hearts. He received first-class treatment on his flight north, arriving alongside 13 other precious lives just before the nor’easter. Because when animals need help, rescue never stops.
Firework has cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which may make him a little wobbly, but nothing can slow down his spirit, charm, or ability to amaze everyone he meets. This beautiful boy is ready to shine bright and show the world just how special he is.
A huge Thank You to Wings of Rescue and North Texas Humane Society for making this lifesaving journey possible.

4 puppies in Puerto Rico need our help! 🇵🇷

These four little ones were found outside a factory after their mom disappeared into the forest. Now they’re being cared for while we work to get them everything they need, and eventually, get them to adopted.🧡

These puppies are currently 12 weeks old, 2 females and 2 males, weighing from 6-8lbs.

We’re asking for donations to name each puppy! So far, we’ve received our first donation, which means one of our sweet little girls officially has a name…
