We don’t like making posts like this, but we believe in being transparent.

Right now, sales are down nearly 40% compared to last year, and we are struggling to keep up. What many people see are the cute cat photos, adoption posts, and happy endings. What they don’t see are the bills that arrive every month whether we have sales or not.

Trash service. Internet. NIPSCO. Commercial insurance. Payroll. Payroll taxes. Rent. Cleaning supplies. Cat food. Litter. Medical care. The list never seems to end.

With only two people trying to keep everything moving forward, some days it feels like we are drowning.

If you’ve been thinking about making a purrchase, please consider shopping our online store between now and Friday. Use code MEOWMAIL for FREE SHIPPING on orders of $30 or more.

Every order helps. Every share helps. Every dollar helps keep the lights on and the cats cared for.

Thank you to those who continue to stand with us through the good days and the hard ones. We see you, and we appreciate you more than you know.

Today was supposed to be Mr. Roper’s release day. He was captured 2 weeks ago today.

Unfortunately, he’s just not quite ready yet. While his injured leg is now about 75% healed, we’re beginning to see some concerning signs that may indicate kidney disease. Because of that, we’ve made the difficult decision to extend his stay with us a little longer.

Could we release him and hope for the best? Sure. But after everything he’s been through and how far he’s come, that’s not a chance we’re willing to take. But remember he's not a social cat, he is feral & prefers to be his own man.

Mr. Roper has fought too hard for us to let him down now. We’ll continue monitoring him closely, providing the care he needs, and making sure he’s truly ready before any decisions are made.

Truthfully, the dream would be finding Mr. Roper a home of his own one with a large catio where he could safely enjoy the outdoors while receiving daily care, good food, and plenty of love from afar. With the kidney concerns, that kind of setup could make all the difference in his quality of life.

Know someone who might be willing to open their heart and home to this special guy? We’d love to talk.

Keep those good thoughts coming for Mr. Roper. ❤️

💙 Want to help the cats but aren’t sure how? Host a fundraiser for FCN!

There are so many simple ways to make a difference:

🐾 Lemonade stands
🐾 Coin drives
🐾 Collection drives for cat food, litter, and supplies
🐾 Bake sales
🐾 Casual dress days at work

Together, we can make a difference one fundraiser, one cat, and one community at a time. 🐱❤️

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve watched several amazing bonded pairs finally head home together. Every adoption post is a celebration, and we are truly overjoyed for the cats who have found the families they deserve.

What many people don’t see is the bittersweet side of adoption. When a cat spends months or even years with us, they become part of our daily lives. Staff and volunteers care for them, celebrate their progress, and fall in love with their unique personalities.

For me, I often meet these cats at their lowest. I see the neglect, abandonment, illness, injuries, and fear. Helping them heal both physically and emotionally is one of the greatest privileges of rescue. So while we are thrilled when they find homes, we also miss them dearly.

We still have many incredible cats waiting for their turn. If you’re considering adding a feline family member, complete an adoption application and let us help. We offer a personalized adoption concierge experience, taking the time to get to know you and match you with the cat that best fits your home and lifestyle.

Our hearts break a little when they leave, but that’s exactly why we’re here to love them until someone else can. ❤️

🐾 Dave Update 🐾

Yesterday was Dave’s veterinary visit, and while things went reasonably well, we received some difficult news.

Dave tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). While many FIV+ cats can live long, happy lives, Dave’s immune system has clearly been through a lot and will need time, proper nutrition, and a safe environment to recover and rebuild.

The veterinarian also believes that the injuries and severe skin damage Dave has been suffering from were likely caused by either exposure to chemicals or intentional harm. Sadly, neither possibility is easy to hear.

To make matters worse, the eye on the same side as his injuries is now becoming cloudy, and Dave is slowly losing vision in that eye.

The good news? Dave’s veterinary care was generously donated, allowing him to get the medical attention he desperately needed. We are incredibly grateful for that support.

Now we’re looking toward the future. Dave has a dedicated caregiver who loves him, but finding a safe indoor solution has been challenging. Ideally, Dave needs to be protected from the elements, other animals, and the dangers that have already caused him so much suffering.

We’re beginning to think that a fundraiser for a secure catio or outdoor enclosure may be in Dave’s future something that would give him safety, comfort, and a place to heal while remaining with the person who cares so deeply about him.

For now, please keep Dave in your thoughts. This sweet boy has survived more than any cat should ever have to endure, and we’re committed to helping him write a much happier next chapter.

❤️ Dave deserves that chance.

Today, one incredible family opened their hearts to FOUR very deserving middle-aged to senior cats.

💜 Jelly – waiting 756 days
💜 Tabby-tha – waiting 532 days
💜 Jangle – waiting 915 days
💜 Krinkle – waiting 915 days

Not only had these cats spent years waiting for a second chance, but each one is over 5 years old, which is an age when many cats are often overlooked in shelters.

Together, that’s over 3,100 days spent waiting for someone to say, “You’re the one.”

Two of these cats had previously been adopted from other shelters, only to be abandoned by their owners. The other two came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation and endured years of neglect before finally finding safety.

Today, all of that waiting came to an end.

Four amazing cats. Four second chances. One amazing family.

To everyone who donates, shops, volunteers, shares our posts, and supports our mission thank you. Your support made this day possible. Because of you, these cats were given the time they needed to find the right home.
