🐾 The Dogs Behind the Doors: Meet Pip!

The name behind another one of our exam room doors is a little West Highland White Terrier with a whole lot of personality.

Pip was Alisa's very first dog, and from the moment they met, there was something special about him. When she went to meet him for the first time, he laid his little head against her chest and rested. She knew right then that he was meant to be hers.

Of course, that sweet moment didn't mean he was going to make things easy! On his very first night home, Pip cried so much that Alisa ended up sleeping on the kitchen floor beside him.

Pip was a Scotsman through and through. Sturdy, stubborn, full of s***k, and fiercely independent (although he always loved to lay his head on Alisa's shoulder). He had energy to spare, a personality much bigger than his little body, and a sweet side that could melt your heart.

He may have been small, but he left a mighty big impression. And now, his name lives on in one of our exam room doors at The Healthy Hound Company. 💚🐾

What makes The Healthy Hound Co. different? 🐾💚

Meet Jack.

For years, going to the vet was a stressful experience for him. Muzzles, sedation, and multiple people trying to restrain him just to get through a visit.

And understandably, Jack learned to be afraid.

When Jack came to see us, we wanted his experience to be different. We slowed down. We took a tour of the clinic. We offered plenty of encouragement and, most importantly, a pup cup (because Jack is a whipped cream kind of guy). 🥹

We gave him the time and space to realize that he could trust us.

And the best part? No muzzle. No wrestling. No sedation. Just Jack, learning that the vet doesn't have to be scary.

His mom shared this with us:

"He is doing so well here. The Dr took him on an office tour and was so gentle with him. This practice is like night and day different."

Stories like Jack's mean a lot to us. Because we believe great veterinary medicine starts with relationships, listening, patience, compassion, and meeting every dog where they are.

That's the Healthy Hound Co. difference. 💚

And Jack? We'll keep the whipped cream ready for you, buddy.

🐾 Have a dog who's anxious about vet visits? We'd love to get to know them.

Today we’re saying goodbye (for now!) to Future Dr. Evans!

Olivia has spent the last couple of weeks with us at The Healthy Hound Co., and we’ve loved getting to be a small part of her journey toward becoming a veterinarian.

Of course, we couldn’t let her leave without a little surprise. So naturally, our team decided to stage an “emergency” to surprise her with a little gift from us. And we have to say, she handled the fake "emergency" like a pro: cool, calm, collected, and ready for whatever was waiting.

Olivia, thank you for jumping right in, loving on our patients, and becoming part of our Healthy Hound family. We’re excited to see all the wonderful things ahead of you.

The future of veterinary medicine is bright with people like you in it!

A vet just for dogs. 🐾

That’s what we set out to build.

I’m Dr. Josh Singer, veterinarian and owner of The Healthy Hound Company. I started The Healthy Hound Co. because I wanted to create a place designed around dogs, the people who love them, and the relationships we get to build along the way.
We’re pretty grateful we get to do this every day. 💚

If we haven’t met yet, I’d love to meet you and, of course, your dog. 🐶

Diagnostics matter. 🔬

One of the things we love most about veterinary medicine is figuring things out.

A lump that wasn’t there before. A dog who suddenly isn’t eating. A cough that won’t go away. A subtle change in behavior that just doesn’t feel right.

Sometimes the next step is sampling the lump. Sometimes it’s bloodwork, an X-ray, or an ultrasound.

Because those diagnostics help us answer the question we really care about:

What’s going on with your dog and how can we make it better?

Dogs can’t tell us that something feels different. They can’t tell us where it hurts, why they’re slowing down, or that they just haven’t felt quite like themselves lately.

So we look for the clues.

Sometimes a few cells on a slide give us an answer. Sometimes it’s a change on an X-ray or an unexpected value on bloodwork. Sometimes everything comes back reassuring- and that matters, too.

And every once in a while, we find something we never would have expected.

We love putting those pieces together. Not because every dog needs every test, but because the more we understand about what’s going on, the better we can care for the dog in front of us.

And ultimately, that’s what we’re here for- to help your dog feel good, stay healthy, and live their best life right alongside you.

That’s why diagnostics matter. 🐾

Meet Muffin. 🐾

Muffin belongs to one of our team members, and she’s already making herself very comfortable around The Healthy Hound Co. 😂

So naturally, we had to play a little game of Find Muffin.

Each round gets a little harder. 👀
Can you find her in all four?

Around here, there’s always room for one more dog. 💚🐾

The Dogs Behind the Doors: Moose 🐾

Some dogs come into your life at exactly the right time.

Moose came to our family after a season of loss, and from the very beginning, he was just… easy. Sweet. Gentle. Laid-back. The kind of puppy who somehow makes himself at home without asking for much of anything in return.

He has this incredibly endearing way about him- happy to be wherever his people are, content just to be included, and always ready to give you that sweet Moose face. He has been such a gift to our family.

When we were naming the exam rooms at The Healthy Hound after dogs who are special to us, there was never much question that Moose needed his own door.

So if you find yourself in the Moose Room, now you know the boy behind the name. 🤎

Sometimes the dog you didn't know you needed ends up being exactly the one you did.

The Healthy Hound Co. runs on a love of dogs… and a whole lot of caffeine. ☕️🐾

So of course we had to celebrate International Coffee Day.

And if you’d like to support your local vet while fueling your own caffeine habit, we’ve got Healthy Hound mugs at the clinic. 😉

Dogs. Coffee. Good medicine. We think that’s a pretty great combination. 🐶☕️
