My heart is heavy. π
K9 Battle Buddies Maggieπ
She was loved long before any of us knew just how much she would come to mean to our family. Her story started in a way no dogβs story ever should found alone in a field, having been shot at, with a backside full of BBs. But that was only the beginning of her story, never the part that defined her.
Somehow, two dogs who were complete strangers ended up boarding in neighboring kennels around 2017-2018. We had no idea at the time that, while we were going about our lives, they were busy becoming best friends. Life eventually took them in different directions, but apparently they werenβt finished with each other yet. Our teenagers ended up going to school together, our families crossed paths again, and the two of them were reunited. It was as if no time had passed. From then on, their friendship was simply part of our lives.
There is something incredibly pure about watching two dogs choose each other. No explanation needed. They just knew: thatβs my best girl friend.
Today we lost this beautiful girl, and it hurts knowing that both of them are gone now. But I like to think that somewhere, somehow, two old best friends found each other again today no boarding kennel fence between them, no years apart, just two happy dogs who finally get to be together again.
She survived cruelty and went on to know kindness. She was once a dog alone in a field, and she left this world as a dog who was deeply, completely loved. What happened to her may have been the beginning of her story, but love was the rest of it.
Run free, sweet girl. Go find Roxy. She has been waiting for you. β€οΈβ€οΈβπ©Ήπ
