Can we take a minute to share a Happy Tails story? I think we can all use one😺
Unfortunately, this story starts with a tragedy, and sadly, we have had so many lately. About a week ago someone reported a dog on the side of the road - tragically, the dog was hit and killed shortly after. But there was another dog! It was hiding in someone's yard and they called us for help.
Fortunately, dedicated TCHS volunteer and experienced animal emergency responder, Laurie Methven, was available and willing to go out and collect this guy to get him to safety. He was terrified (wouldn't you be???), thin, and horrendously matted. There's no telling how long he had been wandering with his buddy - and then to see him get killed like that🥺
It took several hours in total, but Laurie was able to safely collect this poor guy, get him to Dr. Strauss at Carroll Veterinary Clinic for a checkup and a rabies vaccination, and then over to JR Pet Services Waggin' Train Galax and the amazing Jennifer Roberts for some much-needed grooming relief and a safe place to hang out and recover.
Take a look at this gorgeous guy now - what a transformation! He is still shy but feels so much better and is finally safe. But the best news is, Cruise, as he is now called, has found a permanent home! He went for a sleepover and things went great so he now has a new, loving home AND a new best friend 🐶
Thank you to all who made this happen and gave Cruise a new chance at life!❤❤❤
