FIDO FRIDAY~WE'LL BE POSTING PUPS ALL DAY TODAY!

Six Little Souls Looking for a Fresh Start!

Sometimes, love just isn't enough when the resources and ability to provide proper care aren't there. These six sweet little souls recently came to Highland Humane Society from a situation where they were loved, but their needs weren't being fully met. Now, they're facing a big change, and we're hoping to help them find the safe, loving futures they deserve.

All six are Chihuahua mixes… or at least that's what we're calling them! Are they mixed with something else? Maybe! Are they actually pure Chihuahuas? Possibly! We just can't say for sure, so we're sticking with Chihuahua mixes for now. What we can tell you is that they're all small, full-grown adults, so what you see is pretty much what you get in the size department!

Meet our little crew:

The Girls:
Appoline – 7 years old, 9 lbs
Chloe – 3 years old, 6.5 lbs

The Boys:
Delgado – 6 years old, 16 lbs
El Diablo – 4 years old, 7 lbs
Papi – 5 years old, 23 lbs
Pedro – 5 years old, 6 lbs

A little note about Delgado and Papi: these boys are carrying a little extra love around their middles! They could both benefit from losing a significant amount of weight, likely around half their current body weight, under appropriate veterinary guidance. We'll be helping them get started on a healthier path!

A Little Patience Goes a Long Way

These dogs have only been with us for a few days, and they're understandably confused, frightened, and unsure of what to think about their new surroundings. On top of the stress of leaving the only home they've known, they've already had to endure baths, nail trims, and veterinary care. That's a whole lot of change for such little dogs in such a short time!

Right now, we're seeing fearful, timid pups who are still trying to figure out whether they're safe. Their true personalities haven't had a chance to shine yet, and we don't want anyone to mistake their fear for who they really are. They need time, patience, kindness, and a chance to decompress.

They previously lived with an older couple and were not exposed to small children or cats in that home. Because of this, we don't know how they will do with either. Although they lived together, we also don't know how much experience they had with other dogs outside their little group.

Their future families will need to understand that these pups may need time to settle in, build trust, and feel comfortable in a new environment. We're still learning about each of them, and their needs and personalities will become clearer as they begin to feel safe.

All six dogs are currently unaltered and have surgery scheduled for Friday, November 13, 2026. Until their surgeries are completed, they are available through our foster-to-adopt program only.

You can take one of these little dogs home now and begin helping them adjust to life outside the shelter.

🐾 Meet Kira — Your New Partner in Crime! 💙

At 74 pounds of pure love and goofy fun, Kira is the whole package! This 1.5-year-old mixed breed girl has black spotted ears, one gorgeous blue eye, an adorable smile, and a personality that will steal your heart. 😍 Kira's former owner said they believed her to be a husky and lab mix. Is that correct? Maybe? Is that all of her mix? Probably not.

Kira LOVES making new friends! Strangers? Amazing! Other dogs? Incredible! She’s ready to party, make friends, and spread happiness wherever she goes. 🥳 She’s also crate trained and house trained, so she’s got some pretty great manners to go along with all that charm!

Kira’s enthusiasm for life is contagious, and she needs a family who appreciates a big, goofy girl who wears her heart on her paw. If you have kids, bring them along for a meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a perfect match for everyone!

Kira is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm-negative, on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and microchipped. She’s ready to start her next adventure!

💙 Could Kira be your new best friend? Come meet this lovable party girl and see for yourself!

⚡🐈 **Yer a wizard, Dedalus Diggle!** 🐈⚡

Straight from the magical world of Hogwarts, meet Dedalus Diggle! This curious, playful wizard has a mind of his own and prefers a little peace and quiet over a Great Hall full of noise. 🪄

Dedalus is an independent fellow who enjoys exploring his surroundings and doing things on his own terms. He's tolerant of grown-ups, gets along with other cats, and may even let you in on his secrets with a little purr! 🐾

He's not necessarily looking to be the center of attention or spend all day being carried around like a Golden Snitch. Instead, he's searching for a quiet, loving home where he can work his magic at his own pace.

Could you be the witch or wizard destined to give Dedalus his happily-ever-after? His Hogwarts letter has arrived, and now he's waiting for his next great adventure — a forever home! 🏰❤️

Piano is a laid-back, funny, and oh-so-sweet boy who is ready to be your new best friend! 💕🐶 He’s a bit shy at first, but give him some snacks and he’ll be warming up to you in no time. 😋

Piano loves squeaky toys, chasing toys, meaty treats, and taking nice, leisurely walks where he can sniff around and enjoy the scenery. 🐾🌿 He also gets along well with other dogs!

And his favorite sleeping position? On his back with his legs straight up in the air. 😂🛌 Honestly, he’s already mastered the art of relaxation.

Once Piano gets comfortable with you, he becomes your BFF. 🥹💗 He’s just waiting for someone to give him the chance to show them what a sweetheart he really is!
