Geeked Out Exotics

10/12/2026

Happy Monday, everyone! We've been holding out on making this post for quite some time in hopes that tariffs and general economic pricing increasing would slow down and improve; however, as I'm sure you all feel it, that isn't happening. As a result, I have to increase my pricing. We will be increasing pricing from $85 to $99 in order to continue to provide the quality kit you know and love. We don't want to decrease the quality of products since the health of your pets is our number one focus. This week will be the last week we will stay at $85, and starting Oct.19, the sugar glider, reptile, and small mammal kits will be $99. Snag your kits before we raise prices next week!

Sharing from Sugar Glider Groupies . This is really important:

For those of you that have gotten gliders from Pouch Mates within the last month in the Washington/Oregon/Idaho areas, please get your gliders into a vet as soon as possible for a f***l float/smear, Giardia PCR/SNAP test, and possibly a f***l gram stain to check for an abundance of bacteria/fungal/yeast, if an abundance is found, I would recommend a C&S (Culture & Sensitivity) to target antibiotics.

One of our group members who recently got gliders from Pouch Mates glider just tested positive for Giardia. It’s highly contagious and can cause dehydration quickly in gliders.

Symptoms to watch for: diarrhea, lack of appetite, losing weight, vomiting, over grooming-especially around the cloaca/tail/butt area, lethargic, dehydration. They can have one symptom, multiple symptoms, or no symptoms.

Pouch Mates gliders are typically transported with several gliders within a cage in smaller spaces, so it's very possible for it to spread very quickly.

It's been a bit quiet in here as I've been working two jobs and prepping for some conferences and expos coming up. If you're in the Portland Metro area, or even semi-near by, consider signing up for VIP tickets to the Pacific Northwest Reptile and Exotic Animal Show coming up Oct. 10 & 11! We've applied to vend there again, and it's always a blast. We'll be offering exclusive offers to VIP guests, and so will many other vendors. Don't miss out!

The largest gathering of reptiles, exotics, plants, and curiosities in the PNW - est. 1995. There is nothing like a PACNWRS weekend!

That's a wrap! After 72 hours of set up, tear down, and sales, the spring Hillsboro show has come to a close. I got the amazing opportunity to see and interact with so many incredible creatures, make some new connections, and help so many customers feel better prepared for the care of their pets with our kits. I for sure want to get a crested gecko, but only when we are finally ready and prepped for one. I'll be honest, Spock the ink spot dalmatian gecko kind of won over my heart. Lol. The uromastyx who fell asleep in one of my pouches was another aww moment. ❤️

I think one of the things I'm most proud of, though, is having connected with in Tacoma who has the most gorgeous red monster bearded dragons. White Hot Dragons will carry a couple of our EMS Reptile first aid kits in their Tacoma storefront, so make sure to stop in and support another small business if you're in the area. Can't wait to see all of you in October!
