Happy Thanksgiving from all of us here at Shore Side Veterinary Care! As we gather for the holiday, we know it's tempting to slip a little something under the table to our furry friends. To keep your pets safe, here is a quick guide to pet-safe Thanksgiving treats:
✅ The "Yes" List (In Moderation):
-Turkey Meat: Plain, white meat is best. No skin, bones, or seasoning!
-Sweet Potato: Plain and mashed (hold the marshmallows and brown sugar).
-Pumpkin: 100% pure pumpkin puree (not pie filling).
-Green Beans & Carrots: Fresh or steamed without butter, oil or salt.
❌ The "No" List (Toxic or Dangerous):
-Turkey Bones: They can splinter and cause serious internal damage.
-Stuffing: Often contains onions and garlic, which are toxic to pets.
-Gravy & Turkey Skin: Too fatty! This can cause pancreatitis.
-Raisins & Grapes: Highly toxic!
-Desserts: Chocolate, xylitol (aka birch sugar), and nutmeg are all dangerous.
We hope you and your pets have a wonderful, safe, and treat-filled holiday! 🧡
