Two years ago we got a panicked call from a dad about to be stuck at the hospital with no one to walk his dog. His wife had just had their son, and Silvio, their sweet but very reactive pup, needed someone fast.

Back then, Silvio was not a fan of loud trucks or other dogs. Walks were stressful, for him and for his family. We stepped in during that hospital stay, and kept helping any time they traveled after that.

This year, Silvio's family started weekly walks with us, five days a week, sometimes more when they're out of town. He's a senior now, though you would never know it watching him move. And the reactivity that used to make every walk a little tense? Almost gone. We walk him right past the dog park on the trail, down busy streets, and he barely reacts anymore.

That kind of change does not happen overnight. It happens because the same familiar person shows up for him, walk after walk, week after week.

Some days with Willow are just extra special, and today was one of them. 🐾

She greeted us with her signature "drums," that unmistakable full-body tail wag that's become her calling card around here. From there it was a classic Willow outing: a couple of tomatoes swiped from the garden mid-zoomie (her owner just laughs at this point, and honestly, so do we), followed by a full sunbathing session flopped belly-up in the grass once she'd worn herself out.

We kept the walk itself nice and quiet. We spotted one other dog out and about but gave plenty of distance to keep things calm and stress-free for everyone.

Silly, sweet, a little bit of a garden bandit, and one of our favorite dogs to walk (every week for 2 years now!). Every visit gets the full report card treatment: photo, video, a note on how it went, and a GPS-tracked route, so you always know exactly what your fur family member was up to. 🐶

If you're in NW Indiana, you already know: Tuesday's storm tore through the region and left hundreds of thousands without power. NIPSCO's current estimate is 90% restoration by August 19, with full restoration by August 21.

First and most important: every single one of our NWI clients and their pets are safe. We've personally checked in with each of you, and we're so grateful everyone made it through okay.

Given the ongoing outages, downed lines, lack of gas throughout the region, and blocked roads still being cleared, we're pausing all walks and visits in our NWI service area for about a week, until power is reliably restored. We're reaching out to each affected client directly, and Lafayette/West Lafayette services continue as normal.

In the meantime, we wanted to point you toward a few local organizations doing real work right now:

🐾 Erin's Farm NFP (Hobart): This animal sanctuary took a direct hit. Their mini horse shelters were destroyed and fencing is down across the property, but all animals and staff are safe. They're accepting donations via Venmo (-Farm), CashApp ($ErinsFarm), or PayPal ([email protected]) and may also be asking for volunteers in the coming days to help clean up.

🐾 Humane Indiana Wildlife Rehab Center (Valparaiso): Took in more than 40 storm-injured wild animals in a single day, including an adult bald eagle and orphaned baby mammals. They're asking for donations to help cover care costs.

🐾 Humane Indiana Shleter (Munster): Currently asking for towel and blanket donations to keep up with daily care as they haven't been able to do laundry.

🐾The Humane Society of Hobart, Inc. (Hobart): Still open for adoptions despite being without power. Consider adopting (or donating!) if you can as many animals return to the shelter from temporary foster.

🐾Feline Community Network Resource Center & Cat-themed Gift Shop (Hobart): The power is back but now this non-profit needs volunteers for their post-blackout deep clean the week of August 17. 8:30–9am arrival, 18+, 1.5-2+ hour commitment. Text 219-216-7568 with the day you can help and your name.

If you're able to donate, foster, or volunteer at a local shelter this week, it would mean a lot to the animals still feeling the effects of this storm. Reply below or shoot us a DM if you know of another local org we should be highlighting; we're gathering a list to share with our whole community.

When your dog can't see you, trusting someone new to walk through the door is a big deal.

That's exactly where Jasmine's mom was a few weeks ago. Jasmine is a 14 year old English Bulldog who is also blind, and her mom was understandably nervous about having a service care for her instead of a friend or family member she already knew and trusted. We get it. When you can't be there and your dog can't see who's coming through the door, "professional service" doesn't automatically feel like "someone who gets it."

So during Jasmine's first week with us, we made sure to earn that trust one visit at a time. We wake her gently, calling her name and pouring her food into her bowl, since that sound tells her breakfast (and a familiar visitor) has arrived. We take her outside to the exact same spot she's used to every single time, because for a dog who can't see, routine is everything. And somehow, with zero eyesight, Jasmine expertly guides her own walker right back inside like she's done it a hundred times.

By the end of every visit, she's had a snack, a potty break, fresh water, and more ear scritches than we can count. She really loves those.

Every visit comes with a full photo and video report card, so Jasmine's mom can see exactly how her girl is doing even when she can't be there herself.

We're insured, bonded, background-checked, and CPR-certified, and we treat every fur family member, whatever their age or ability, like our own. If you have a senior or special-needs pup and you're feeling the same way Jasmine's mom was, we'd love to talk. 🐾

Every bride deserves someone to make sure her hair is perfect before photos. Lucy is no exception. 🐾

This was us right before she joined the bridal party for portraits: getting her ponytail just right, making sure she was calm and comfortable, and honestly just soaking in the fact that we have the best job in the world.

This is what a wedding pet attendant actually looks like in practice. Not just showing up with a leash, but really being there for your dog, in all the little moments that add up to a perfect day.
