This is so true

Raising a horse is not about making them obedient.

It is not about creating the perfect ride,
the perfect performance,
or the perfect level of control.

It is about giving them a life where they feel safe in their own body.
A life where they are listened to, not overruled.
A life where their “no” matters as much as their “yes.”

Some of the most beautiful horses in the world are not the most trained.

They are the ones who have learned:
humans can be gentle,
connection does not always come with pressure,
and love is not something they have to earn.

In the end, horses do not remember the ribbons.
They remember how it felt to be with us.

Sat with Pearl one last time for breakfast before my surgery. I love watching how much she enjoys her grain. Her ears are listening, she isn’t angry. She relaxes and closes her eyes while she chews. Sweet girl will never be without food again

The stages of a clingy Esther. She has always loved Tanya since she came here. She tried to get in her lap to get loves.

Then Pearl was very curious about Esther and Tanya interaction and decided to come in for a closer look. This mare is so smart! She didn’t come all the way in but you can tell she wanted to interact. I think she is very close to a breakthrough in trusting humans, we just have to be patient.

At no point was Tanya in danger we sit with the horses often. And Pearl doesn’t want to hurt anyone, though she will mean mug you if you push her when she says “no”

Bailey got his first PEMF (Magnawave) session today. Angel and Poptart snuck in too. And of course Aunty Missy had a bucket with some corn for Sally for a session for her. Magnawave therapy did miracles for Sally!

Pearl looks like a completely different horse in jsut over 2 months. We also think she may be hiding a little secret. She has gotten awful big in a short period of time and it looks like her udders may be starting to fill.

Normally I would have the vet confirm but since she is still so scared and we are unable to halter without stressing her out. We will just keep a close eye on her and see how things develop.

We have been busy here trying to get everything setup so it’s easier for the next month or so as I am having my “good” knee replaced on Friday. I didn’t injure it, just years of wear and tear caused me to be bone on bone. I’ve been struggling with pain for a couple months now.

Please wish me luck on surgery and recovery. Also for my family while they care for all the animals while I’m down.

Our barn kitty is so handsome sitting in his domain. He sat at animal control since November until my old boss took him from animal control, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated him. He is terrified of people but is doing a great job keeping our barns mice free.

Pearl enjoyed her grazing session today. We are working up to letting her graze longer and longer. She respects the electric fence so that works well. She really enjoys being with her herd.
