Many of you have been my clients for a long time so I believe a transparency post is necessary. I’m going to share with you a post I have made to my friends and family. Please be patient during these times as there may be times I have to leave early or take a very important call. Please know that working with your fur babies is going to be my therapy to get through this.

Life can change just like that. I would have never imagined I would be writing this post. 19 years ago my twin boys were born at 25 weeks. They spent over 180 days in the NICU @ Brenners Children’s Hospital. Born weighing 1 pound the odds were highly against them. I now sit here 19 years later getting ready for one of the biggest battles ever. My Isaiah has not been himself these past several months. His blood counts were way out of whack. This was discovered on a routine physical in April. The pediatrician at first didn’t think really anything of it as he was presenting 100% healthy. After multiple visits to the pediatrician to have blood draws with the numbers getting worse I insisted on seeing a specialist. His pediatrician was believing that my son had Benign Ethnic Neutropenia. The doctor finally sent out the referral. When I received the phone call to set up an appointment I was advised that they were scheduling 6 months out. That was unacceptable to me. The pediatrician then made a call out to Dr. George-Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist. The doctor agreed to see him within the week. This doctor ordered so many tests as a starting point. Again, Isaiah was presenting
100 % healthy with the exception of these weird White Blood Cell Counts. Moving forward the specialist was getting ready to schedule a bone marrow biopsy as all labs indicated an issue with the bone marrow. After doing repeat blood tests the majority of the numbers that were at abnormal values returned to normal. The doctors then attributed it to something viral that was going on that his body healed on his own. I was then informed that Isaiah can return to his regular pediatrician for monitoring. On the last visit on Monday August 3rd all his labs were completely normal. But I kept telling the doctor that something was off. Isaiah was saying that he kept feeling like he was going to pass out, he was waking up full of sweat, loss of appetite etc…. Well, yesterday these episodes of dizziness and passing out happened 3 times. The last one he went down and thank God my husband was there to catch him. My husband and I decided it was time for an emergency room visit. We arrived yesterday at almost 7 pm. By 11:30 pm he was being admitted. Here I am getting ready to tell me son that his life has drastically changed. My son has a very aggressive Leukemia. He is scheduled for his first surgery tomorrow and first dose of Chemotherapy.
I just experienced one of the hardest things I had to do in my life. I had to tell my son he has cancer. He was absolutely crushed. I’m really trying to remain strong but this is hard. The questions from him were heartbreaking.
The only thing I know right now is to cry out to God. No matter what happens I trust him! I am relying on him in every way. I’m praying there will truly be a village for us. We will be strained in every way possible. The people that already know what is going on have asked how can they help us? The answer is I don’t know right now. I’m trying to navigate through this process and nothing in life can prepare you for this. Please uplift Isaiah in your prayers. We desperately need it.

Some groom for the money. Others groom from the heart, and the money follows the passion.

After 15 years, I’ve learned that the hardest part of this profession isn’t the grooming. It’s the last appointment.

When a client says, “This will probably be his last groom,” everything changes.

You realize that for years you weren’t just grooming a dog. You were part of that dog’s life. You watched them grow old, earned their trust, and shared their journey with their family.

That’s why I believe every dog we groom becomes a little bit ours too.

Not because we own them, but because we made a promise to help give them the best life possible.

And saying goodbye never gets easier.
