The 9/11 attacks brought not only human tragedy but also the extraordinary service of over 300 search and rescue dogs who worked alongside human responders to find survivors and recover victims from the rubble
These canines — from Golden Retrievers to German Shepherds and Border Collies — became symbols of courage, resilience, and compassion

Riley – A Golden Retriever with FEMA’s Pennsylvania Task Force 1, Riley became a beacon of hope at Ground Zero, often seen being lifted onto debris. Though trained to find the living, he also comforted rescuers and inspired research into the health impacts of SAR work

Appollo – A German Shepherd from the NYPD Canine Special Operations Division, Appollo was among the first responders, arriving just 15 minutes after the South Tower collapse. He survived a near-fatal incident and was honored with the Dickin Medal

Sage – A Border Collie who served FEMA’s top SAR team at the Pentagon recovery. She even detected the body of the Flight 77 hijacker and worked in multiple disasters, including Iraq

Bretagne – A Golden Retriever who worked at Ground Zero for 10 days before transitioning to recovery. She was the last known living 9/11 SAR dog until her death in 2016, remembered for her dedication and goodwill work

A few of the many, we honor them all.

The dogs and cats fed thru the pet pantry give a big THANK YOU to those of you that have helped to support the pantry. Walmart, Tractor Supply, D&B, Costco, Minidoka Shelter, all the countless people that have seen the need and stepped up to help the pets and their owners so they can stay in homes.

We are so grateful for everyone's support!
