💔🥹To everyone who has reached out, sent love, & asked about our sweet girl—thank you.
Your kindness has brought a bit of light into our darkest days. Many of you have gently asked the question that has been breaking our hearts too: "She was so young, what happened? Was she sick?"
We wanted to share the truth with you all. Our beautiful Maks girl was fighting a hidden battle. She had a highly aggressive, silent form of cancer called adenocarcinoma, tucked deep inside her sinus cavity. Dogs are incredibly brave, & she hid her pain so well. For about two weeks, she slowly lost her appetite, but we had no idea of the storm brewing underneath. In her final 24 hours, the illness suddenly & aggressively overwhelmed her system.
It has been devastatingly fast. While it brings us peace to know it was completely non-contagious, our hearts now ache for Gus. He is sad—definitely sad. You can look at him & tell how deeply he misses his girl, & we are doing everything we can to comfort him as he processes this huge loss alongside us.
Seven years was not nearly enough time with her, but we take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain. Thank you for loving her, & our family, through this. 🐾💔
